I just recently got an '88 GXL which will turn over but I cannot get it to start. To simplify things I am going to rip out most of the ECU controlled systems- this includes the fuel injection. I already have a Holley 650 CFM double pumper. The problem I'm running into is that since this is a six port engine I cant find anyway to make an intake manifold that will work with the carb- and I cant find an aftermarket one ANYWHERE! I did find a sales blurb on racingbeat.com:

"Great News! Racing Beat will be introducing a HOLLEY Intake Kit for all 1984-92 6-Port rotary engine applications. We are in the final stages of the intake manifold design and should have kits available in the fall of 2001. Updates, prices and availability will be posted on the site in the coming weeks. If you just can't wait, give us a call and we will place you on our "first priority" delivery list!"

This makes me believe that no-one else has ever made one. Has anyone out there ever heard of someone doing what I want to do?

i have seen a 6port intake manifold before. I dont know about it working with that holley, but my friend has an 88 engine in a 1st gen with Mikuni carbs.... if anything, get some sidedrafts or something..=)

i was actually thinking about carbing my car too...got the same year and model as you, but i was gonna go with weber or mikuni sidedrafts...never did it though

I wouldn't mind maybe some webbers but I have heard that they are hard to keep tuned, but from waht I've heard they have a wide range of tunability- so If worse comes to worse I may try that. What is the difference with Mikuni's?

yea weber's can be picky little fuckers. but run SWEEET when tuned right. Mikuni carbs are very similar, but dont seem to need that much Tuning. Thats from my experience, which isnt truely much, but its better than nothing.

Check out Atkins Rotary their supercharger setup must use some sort of manifold that might be suitable for you.

Power House engineering in South Pasadena,CA sells an adapter Plate that will bolt on to your 6 port engine. After that bolt on a Racing Beat 4 port intake manifold onto the adapter plate. The rest is just installing your holley 650cfm double pumper on. I use it on some customers cars that want to take of there Fuel injection, it works very good until somebody comes up with an after market manifold for this application. Power house engineering's # is 323-222-2506 tell Jonh from power house J.R.'s Rotary gave u the #
