I feel embarrest to even let you guys know, but I rear ended my own car today. My pickup was in 1st gear when I started it, I was too stupid to ease out on the clutch and ended up jumping forward into the back of the other mini. No damage to the front of the truck. The crome bump stops attached to the bumper did the damage to the rear bumper on the other mini. I'm gona try to beat out the dents for now and go ahead and order a new bumper. Luckily a new shiney bumper only cost $50. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png You have a point.

Yes hitting the 7 would have been worse. Probably cost me more than 50 bucks to repair the bumper too. I just got done taking off the mini bumper, and used a hammer to bang out the dents to keep it from being such and eye sore. Only 3 bolts holding the thing on, and I managed to break one of them. If there wasn't this wierd twist in it now, I'd say its perfectly fine after a nice polish job I did. Oh well.

I ******* hate when people leave my car in gear. I never check for that because I never leave my car in gear when I turn it off!

Jims5543 04-11-2004 11:35 PM

I did that with my 84 RX-7. I pulled the choke started it and went to get out. Letting the clutch in with it in 1st gear.

I used to inch my RX-7 up to my dads accord in the carport to get as much of it under cover and keep dew off of it.

I let the clutch out and the car was revving at 4K RPM the back tires barked and it slammed into the accord and then the rear tires kept chirping and spinning for what seemd like forever but was only for seconds.

No damage to either car much to my amazement.

It happens no biggie.. what does a bumper cost for one of those about 10 bux.

I'll learn to be more carefull. Worse part was my girlfriend was standing there. I give her **** about everything, so now I'll never live this down.

Minimania has it listed for $50, which is good cause they are in the states and I won't have to pay VAT.

Cheers! 04-11-2004 11:44 PM

I did that once.

I always leave my car in gear, just in case the ebrake fails. I also ahve a habit of engauging the ebrake/parking brake really firm.

So once day i parked my car in my garage, was in a hurry, started her up in gear, dumped the clutch to get my seatbelt. Stupid me left it in gear when i dumped it at high idel.

Thank god the ebrake was on firm or else i would've put the rx7 through the garage door.

Note to self always get lots of sleep and don't be in a rush.
