DENVER - Firefighters had to smash through some windows of a downtown high-rise to rescue a couple window washers after high winds blew them into harm's way. The incident happened Wednesday morning at 18th and Arapahoe in Denver. Fire officials say the pair was up about 15 stories when high winds broke part of the scaffolding they were standing on. The platform began to swing in the wind and broke several windows. Firefighters responded to the scene, broke through some windows and pulled the pair back into the building. One fire official said the two window washers were lucky to be alive. 9News Meteorologist Marty Coniglio says wind speeds in the Denver area were blowing at about 20 to 40 miles per hour at the time of the incident. |
