I read an experiance from a miata guy whe had 2 turbo mitas behind him on that road and he held them off. I really dont think a lot of horsepower is what is needed. Good tires and suspension will be all you need.
ANYONE WHO LIVES IN THE AREA. IF YOU CAN RECOMMEND A HOTEL / MOTEL IN THE AREA I WOULD APRRRECIATE IT. I was thinking somewhere where there is a town with places to eat and drink would be good. I am taking my 10 y/o son with me so I really will not be going out to drink. But I know the other guys might want to. I am going to drive/eat/sleep and that is it. Oh, and meet some NP guys. |
No Gatlinburg is good. It isn't like driving an hour to Dragon will not be fun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
I have been all over the BRH on my honeymoon. I was in Gatlinburg and its a neet city. Good call I will find a hotel/motel and see if we can work out a group rate. I was thinking it might be better to go when its still too cool for Motorcycles to want to drive it. Maybe we go earlier like April = less motorcycle traffic. Is that cool?? |
BTW - What price range per night do we want to be in?
I plan on being in the area Friday night and Sat. night. |

The trip ro the Gap from G-burg is so fat. There are some gentle sweeping curves that you could set your cruise control on 70 and have nothing to fear. It is a nearly life changing experience for some one who really enjoys motoring. It would be even better rotoring though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png |
Your input is valued as you have been there and can give us good tips even if you dont go. You gotta try though. Driving in a pack of RX-7s is a total rush.

If you come down I would reccomend staying in Maryville. There are nice places near the gap but there are hardly any restaurants, gas stations etc. I have seen tractor trailers up there on occasion but the most dangerous thing you have to watch out for up there is yourself. The cops do get kind of thick up there but as long as you stay on your side of the double yellow they are OK. When I go up there I usually leave the house by 7:00 am since there is hardly any traffic up there then. I would not reccomend driving in very large groups because that really makes you stick out like a sore thumb. I always try to keep a low profile and when I go up with a group there is usually no more than four cars and they are people that I trust that wouldn't do anything stupid.

Whenever you all make this trip give me a yell. I'm about 3-4 hours away and I'd love to drive it.
