Is there any way to transfer data from 98 to XP if the pc with XP doesn't have an ethernet card?

take the harddrive out of the old comp, and install into the new comp (pretty simple, just two wires, you dun need to screw in the HD, just let it sit on the floor with the case open)
then you can just click and drag any file you need from one HD to the other. other than that, nothing short of burning CD's will work without an ethernet card. actually i remember something about a USB to USB cable transfer thingy. maybe someone knows something about that. but, the hd swap would be the easiest. XP would auto detect the new Drive. after you're dun you can just throw the HD back in the old comp. |
uh...just noticed this. where is the NP.com servers located? it says i posted on '01:01 PM'

The one with XP is a laptop, so putting in the old HD wouldn't work. He (my dad) tried the USB > USB method, but isn't having any luck with it. I heard the serial > serial doesn't work either. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Serial > Serial or USB > USB is about the only way
unless you have a hub, and some CAT5 lying around. |
I thought USB only tranfers data at like 1mb/s? If so then it is going to take a long time!

hook up a CDRW and burn it on a CD ?

I guess that's going to have to be the way. My sister has an external burner she can lend him. So do I, but I don't think it would be quite as convenient as using hers.
