So my sister and her hubby are looking at getting a new car. Today We drove a CX-7 and looked at the new CR-V. The CX-7 seemed to have a driveline vibration or maybe just a exhaust resonation at a certian rpm that was kind of anoying. Another bad strike against the CX-7 was the seats if you ask me. I didn't like how they have a stripe going down the center of it, can feel it while sitting on them. Other than those two complaints I'd say it was a pretty good car/suv. Seemed to have pretty good power and decently priced.

Anyone out there own one? What do you like/dislike?

Thanks!

Seening our distract maneger from mazda comes to our dealership alot. He noticed it did have some tubo lag or "hesitaion" while accelerating off and on at say, a free way emtrence.

Driving it around the lot they seem fine.

if you are not planning on keeping the car a LONG time, go with the Honda, resale on the Mazda SUCKS.

or lease it!

lol, mazda is missing the boat there too.

the base cx7 has a lease special, its $230ish a month

to get one with 4wd and options its like $700 a month, sticker only jumps like $1500...

the bmw x3 lease fully loaded is like $350ish.....

I smart buy/leased my 6, in the end it will have cost me about $15600 including my down payment and Mazda paying for the last 3 lease payments on my last car, for a car that stickered $26000+.

I will own the car for 4 years total- I have 11 months left.

If I bought the car outright, WITH NO LOAN, the car would have been $28210 with tax plus the dealer fees he tacks on.

Remember on a lease you only pay tax for the amount of lease payments, NOT the whole car.

2003 Mazda 6 right now are having a hard time selling for $11000-$13000, imagine ANOTHER year of depreciation? I figure when I give the car back next year its going to be worth $8500-$9500 if its lucky.

So if I bought the car and sold it 4 years later the car would have cost me close to $20000 to drive own the car for 4 years, and I would have been stuck selling it. And thats with no loan, imagine another $2500-$3500 in interest?

I leased it and it will cost me $15600 to have driven it for 4 years, and in the end I hand them the keys and walk away.

If I wanted to keep the car it would actually be cheaper for me to buy it back after I trade it in, lol

Now thats what I call beating the system.

Sounds like a good idea if you can keep the milage down.

I have enough cars where I dont really rack up too many miles on any of them.

I gave my last car back 7500 miles over and they did not say a word, pretty good considering I was not even getting another Mitsuibishi

Well it looks like they are going to do the CX-7 with all the options. Copper color with the tan leather. I didn't notice any turbo lag with the CX-7 but I do drive a single turbo Rx-7 so that may be why https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

We went and drove the '07 CR-V and it was a DOG, slow as hell. I later found out it only has 166hp.. Slowness and the flipdown armrests were the two big things that I saw wrong with it. It did ride nice and had a good "feel" to it but it just didn't satisfy like the CX-7 in the end. Fully loaded they cost about the same. The brother in-law gets a mazda discount of ~2k.

Whatever they buy it's going to be in the family for a long time. They have a history of keeping cars for 10+ years so I'm not sure resale is a huge factor. Plus... maybe I'll buy it from them in 10 years https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png I sure as hell won't buy a CR-V from them https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Anything else I should know about the CX-7 before they go pull the trigger tomorrow? Good and bad.

thanks!

Done deal, they got a platnum one with the black leather interior. I think the only option it doesn't have is the trailer hitch and a flux capacitor.

Is it true that people are getting less mpg with them than advertised? I read one article that it was only getting 14mpg when they rate it at 18-24mpg. I suppose it get's better as time goes on though..
