Well today we went to the BMW dealer and ordered a Mini.
Red with white roof, black leather interior, huge power sunroof, it comes FULLY equipped. Its actually really nice. The salesman was super cool, he asked if we wanted the S version with the supercharger, then told us unless you really drive the car hard around town the regualr one is the way to go. He was so low pressure it was a pleasure dealing with them. It will take about 8 weeks to get, they give you a number so you track it getting built online so that will be fun. We wanted something "different", and in that price range there really isnt anything out there, besides if we dont like it in a few years we will just get rid of it, lol. |
i saw a old school british mini on my way to buy my friend a bong. it's should still be there, it was there for the past couple months with a little for sale sign on it.
take a pic of the whole "watch it being built" thing so we can enjoy it with you lol kevin. |
We looked at them pretty closely when we bought the protege5, very nice car. Congrats!
|
So are you getting the "S"?
|
I saw one last time I was in Jersey, right near the Mini headquarters in Montvale, it was awesome. It had a bodykit and mesh style wheels. Best of all it had manufacturer license plates. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png Maybe thats a hint of what is coming out soon https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif
|
I test drove a supercharged new mini, it was pretty damn fast. There are a bunch of new mini's in town driving around, and several for sale.
|
Oh by the way, here is a good forum. They have the bmw's seperated from the austins. http://www.minimania.com/
|
|
I saw one of those at SCCA, and all I could hear the whole time was the supercharger screaming at all the other cars. It actually did very decent for a novice driver, also. Good buy!
|
nice job rob. now u and 94touring are the only mini owners i know

sorry i couldn't help myself https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |

Well now that you're a mini owner, you need some instructions....
|
We checked out some other cars, nothing in the price range compared to the
Mini. We dont need another big car, figured it would be nice to get something that you dont see ALL the time. They offered the best bargain, and the car seems to be of a high build quality, the dealer network is great, service department is BMW. The dealer only gets 300 a year so they can only sell so many of them. He told us they plan on making a 2 seater pick-up, and the convertible is coming out in 2005-2006? So the design is going to stay basically the same. Resale is great on them as well. They also offer free maintance for 3 years/36,000 miles, synthetic oil is reccomended so they will be providing that, brake pads, wiperblades, light bulbs, you name it. I dont think the whole watching your mini get built is real, I cant see it taking them more then a day to build one. I couldnt get over how many people were coming into the dealer to see them, they had them in thier own section of a showroom across the street from the BMW dealer where they sell the certified used BMWs. The whole expierence in the dealer was worth it, where the Honda dealer was pushing to sign a deal so that the "rates wouldnt change", the Mini dealer was super low pressure. |
Wow! BMW is going to come out with a mini pickup too? One day when I come across some money, i'm going to get a austin mini pickup to go with my austin cooper. They are very hard to come by though.
|
a pick-up, a convertible, and even a sport wagon!
The dealer had seen all of the prototypes. Apparently they send the dealers to school where they get to drive the **** out of a mini as well as all its competitors. That pick-up is really nice. |
Here is an original vert and wagon.
|
guess I can look forward to doing some Mini research of my own now, lol.
|
The original looks soo cool in 1275S form! Good Luck with your new one!

not many cars under $20,000 that when they are a year old are worth more
then $14000 or so. |
Yeah, normally when you drive a new car off the show room floor the price drops big time, wether its a year old or not. Course any of the classic mini's that went for 3k thirty years ago are being sold for 15-20k today, granted they are in excellent shape.

i adjusted the tr3's purchase price ($2650 in 58) for inflation and it would have been a $16,000 car now

no mini yet rob?
|
they said 8 weeks ( read the first post ), had 2 lease payments left on the Mitsui,
so they waited 2 weeks and order the mini, so about 7 weeks to go! changed it to a red with red roof, I can always change the color of the roof and mirrors at will anyhow. |
Can't wait to see pics when you get it. There are several new mini's here in Tulsa roaming around. Funny to see their reaction when i'm in the cooper.
|
Im looking forward to the car, something new to play with
Cant quite figure out what to do it that someone hasnt done yet, although I never really see them on a day to day basis anyhow. I would still like to do something original to it, maybe it will come to me when I get it. |
Turbo?
