Hey,
Let me begin by saying that I am not a computer guy. I'm good with the hardware, but am clueless when it comes to software and configurations. Heres the issue: My roomate and I just got a cable modem connection. We have each a laptop, and I also have one desktop. I wanted to use the desktop as a "server" for the internet to our two laptops. I called Dell support, and they said that what I want to do is possible, but requires "advanced configuration" to work. Is this "advanced config" something that one of you computer gurus can help me with online, or should I just cave in and get a router for extra money. I am a student, so money is a precious commodity and I'd rather not spend any more. Thanks, -a |
you can get a router for like $30 if you look around
that is the easiest way plug in and GO no internet connection sharing BS which works horribly |
i like win proxy with a decent router

linksys routers are pretty cheap, and if you want to go the way of wireless that isn't very difficult at all. all you'll need to do is setup a share on your desktop for the root of c: and you'll be fine.

I'm using a linksys right now actually https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
