so I get my notice in the mail today that they accepted my application for collector/agreed value for the vert.

Agreed value of $7500, fully insured, no deductable for a whopping $105 for the year, made me very happy indeed

I got off my ass when I got my renewal for the 4 cars for almost $4000.

Thats a sweet deal. Figured you'd have to wait till it was 25 years old.

banzaitoyota 10-08-2005 05:22 AM

i have 1 car for that much... actually 2 now.

Dave 88 A.E 10-08-2005 05:55 AM

Do you have any limitations as far as driving the car. I know in Pa if you get it licensed like that you can only drive it on sundays and so many miles a year.

amp 10-08-2005 06:05 AM

hagerty qouted me 410 for an agreed value of 28k on one of the cyms.. full coverage...

1988RedT2 10-08-2005 06:36 AM

Yeah, who with??

We had Classic Collectors on the '78 Vette, was nice and cheap, but they wouldn't cover the T2. They do have mileage limits and other conditions.

People pay over that for 1 car here, especially if it has anything over 2 litres.

Neither Hagerty or Grundy will cover a car newer than 1980 in SC

94touring 10-08-2005 11:42 AM

Usually has to be garaged and with only so many miles a year driven.

Eric Happy Meal 10-08-2005 01:42 PM

i have minimum coverage on a car worth about 1K and it costs 120 a month.

Rob x-7 10-08-2005 03:04 PM

Mine is with Grundy, state to state varies greatly as Banzai just said Grundy wont write in SC. I could not get haggerty to accept my policy, I could have tried to list it as a "exotic", but then the agreed value starts at $15000 and that policy was $350 or so, who is to say they would even accept my car as a "exotic".

Like my boss has 12 or so cars insured with JC Taylor insurance, they wont write policies in North Carolina where he actually keeps all the cars, he is shopping for a new company to insure them there since he moved all his cars there 2 years ago.

Limitations were as follows:

-all drivers in the household have to be 25+ years of age

-must have garage for the vehicle

-supply photos of interior, exterior, and engine bay pics

-each licensed driver has to have a car not more then 10 years old for a daily driver

-clean license obviously

they did not give me mileage or use limitations but the policy is basically written out that you will NOT be using the car as a back up vehicle, or to go to work, run errands, basically to repairs, shows, etc..

alot of companies are now writing cars that are newer because you may need agreed value, like if you have a Enzo or something like that, regular insurance policies dont really suit those cars. I have a vendor who has his Camaro Pace Car and his Impala SS insured as collectors and they are only a few years old.

In NYS $895 is about the bottom for insurance with no comp or collision, thats just basic liability

My Mazda 6 with full coverage is only $965, my Lexus is like $1100 or something, and the F-250SD is like $1050, or somewhere around that.
