So last night, around 3 am, I was in my FD andMy fiancee and I were driving to her grandmother's house from mine. As I cross University Ave, eastbound on highway 285, I pass what appeard to be a retired poilce car. He sped up and got in front of me in the lane next to mine. Shortly after, he started slowing. I, being suspicious, also slowed. Both he and I continued to slow and stop, then proceed slowly and stop again. Then I slowly passed by him as he remained stopped (on the highway). He moved behind me and started tailing me. I continued at 15 mph through the next intersection, and when he got caught by the red light(at Colorado Ave.), I nailed the gas and took a left into the neighborhoods. He must've run the red light, because he was a block behind me as I turned out of the neighborhoods. So at this point, I'm a little more than suspicious. I take off northbound on Colorado avenue, and he's right on my ass. I'm doing 100+ in a 40 mph zone, and he's so close, at times I can't see his headlights.



Those ****** Caprice Classics are fast!



So I'm flying up Colorado Ave, with this guy flashing his brights and his little spotlight. By this point, my Fiancee is on the phone with 911. I slide my car in a glorius drift around a right-hand turn, turning eastbound on Evans Ave. He lost a little ground, but he's coming fast, and I'm getting traffic. Being concious of traffic, I slow in the right lane. He pulls alongside and swerves at me. I react and SLAM on the breaks, he also brakes, pulling his car in front of mine. I nail the gas and pull right up a driveway and onto the sidewalk. He nearly hit me as I flew by.



My fiancee is begging the 911 dispatcher to send a car. The dispatcher can't. Where the **** is a **********ing speed trap when you need one?!? I'm TRIPLING the speed limit and there's no ******* cops!!! WHAT THE ****!?!



I spot another driveway up ahead and pull back onto the road, trying to control the full-throttle oversteer that was induced. He's still behind me, forced me again to the side of the road (because of traffic), but this time, it's the left side. I throw it in reverse, and he does the same, but by the time he's caught back up to me, I'm already in 1st, smoking the tires as I slingshot down the road. All stops are out now. I'm driving 75+ in a 30, heading eastbound in the westbound lanes. A few miles down the road, and I spot a good right-hand corner, sliding my car onto southbound Quebec St. He keeps losing ground, but I continue to me cautious when he's not around, because I'm already reckless enough. As I travel, I seek the shelter of traffic. He backs off while cars are around us, but as soon as they turn off, he's right on me again, attempting to ram me and force me off the road. So as a last ditch effort, I Slam on the brakes once again and come to a dead stop. This was enough. He stops long again, and reverses in a cloud of tire smoke. after stopping long on the reverse, he pulls forward and stops right beside me, his nose angling across mine. He points a what I believe to be a gun at me. I'm not sure wether it was the traffic coming from behind us, or the fact that he was done ******* with me, but he sped off turning right into a development. I took off back down Quebec, and proceed directly to the nearest police station.



The man was driving a white Chevrolet Caprice Classic, ritired police vehicle with spotlight on passenger side. The temporary tags were in the rear plate position, but were obstructed by a piece of brown paper or the like. He was a heavy set white male wearing a white baseball cap backwards, and a white t-shirt.



After all that, the police said they couldn't do anything unless he had a gun. They said that the only way an APB would be put out was if there was a gun. I filed a report, stating that I believe there was a gun. On the way home, all I could think was "thank god I had the RX7." It's extraordinary capabilities are probably the only thing that kept me and my fiancee from getting hurt.





Needless to say, that I've decided on fortifying the FD a bit, and the 25 lb wheels I was thinking about are a no-go. Also. I'm considering buying a handgun.

Is your fd stock? Making proper boost? Seams crazy that you couldn't lose the guy. i would've found a straightaway that leads to a dead end, gun it down the straight, and before coming to the dead end pull the e-brake make a 180 and put your highbeams on, you'll now be staring at him, and chances are your high beams will convince him to slow down enough to either realize you're not to be fucked with or to give you enough time to boost away just past him...i had to do this to lose someone who was following me only i did it in my girlfriends g20t, not as fun as in an rx7 admittedly.

Wow, that's a crazy story. WTF is up with the police not helping though? Some guy's trying to run you off the road and endagering your life and they can't help out at all? They sure seem real "helpful" when they see a nice shiny cannister exhuast on you car.

This **** happend to me and i ended up spining out on the freeway at 110+, no damage to my car which was a ******* miracle, since i spun for about 2 blocks, this was a couple yrs ago though. yea but the chance of a gun puts a damper on that plan of action, i mean if you throw a phonebook the worst he can do is shoot "at" your car. If you get out of your car the worst he can do is shoot you, not the car. i prefer the car gettin shot, not me.

actually...now that i think about it something similar happened to my dad and i a few years ago...



coming home from the grandparents house (how ironic)



this 4x4 extended cab truck is constantly tailgating us..flashing highbeams...then passing us, and slowing down to like 5mph. so we pass the dude and my dad starts hauling...well, as much as an old caprice classic will do...but he's an ex stock car driver so we had them lost in not too long...



about 2 miles up the road after us speeding...we see a cop parked on the side of the road in a dirt parking lot...so my dad starts flashing his brights at the cop and honking. we basically skid into the lot and my dad's exact words to the car were:



"This **********ER is chasing me...get off your ass and chase the *******!!!!!!!"



just as he said the cop had this look of confusion on him thinking my dad was the crazy one. definately looked like my dad instilled some fear in him. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png a second or 2 later the truck went racing by and the cop was in pursuit...about a mile down the road he was pulled over...

i had something similar happen, but no police involved.



Going back to the winter of 2000 i had a 98 Jeep wrangler, 4" lift 33" tires, and reworked engine to 300hp, no cats only mufflers. Let's say i was a noticeable truck. Well one day with snow and ice on the roads i notice a nice like chevy 2500 size truck flying behind me, then he gets within 5 feet of my bumper, he starts flashing his highbeams (on hamburg tpk) so since i was on my way home and i know a few different routes I started busting out the "sudden-no-signalled turns" i knew my truck could handle it in the weather cause the tires were rather knew and i hadn't seen any ice yet. So finally i wind up having about 2 car lengths on this guy as i climb up a development that has about a 90 degree right hand turn in it, i'm going about 55-60 in 4Hi and adding lengths between me and him (in case any of you are near me it was the vizcaya development off of hamburg tpk). So anyway i come to the turn and cut the wheel a bit too hard, *bam* truck's front tires slide on ice and when i'm turning right the car is headed straight (to add to this im up on a cliff-side development with big drops on either side of the road) so i slide and SLAM into the curb which tosses my front end up and luckily i had my sway bars disconnected from off-roading the day beforeotherwise the whole car would've flipped, instead i landed half on the road, half on the grass.



This guy who almost caused my amazing death then gets the balls to get out of his truck and drag me out of my truck (i was 17, he was mid 30s) so i get up thinking he might be trying to help me out and he starts yelling at me "so how'd your front end get messed up" and i told him "i wa sin a car accident, and i hit a tree off-roading" he starts screaming saying that i ran over his mailbox and streetsign the day before. Knowing i didn't do it I gladly got in his face ( I'm 6'6", an intimidating figure in my mind) and swore up and down about how i was in new york state the day before and unless he chased me from NY there was no chance i hit his mailbox. This ended up in an all-out brawl on the side of the street and then rolling into the person's lawn. Eventually the people that lived where my truck landed came out, broke it up, and told us to get out of there before they call the cops.



The ******* continued following me, so i took him to the highway (route 23), gunned it and quickly left him behind.



I've also been attacked by a chevy tahoe on my way down the shore, the jeep got bad attention wherever it went.

I am glad you are okay, and safe. Stupid physchos. You should have tried to find a police station and pulled in there - make all kind of racket, that way it got their attention.

thats what my dad said i should do next time, pull into a police station.

police can't really do much because then anyway who didnt like someone could go to a station say "this car did this" and have no proof.



If there was a gun seen then if they pulled over the suspect and he had a gun on them they could at least charge him with something that would hold up in court.

if they don't see anyhting, then no.. they can't do much of anything. But when you call 911 and tell them it's a emerg. and you need someone right away, they are suppose to come out - not say "sorry we can't." What the **** are they there for if they don't help you?



I adore some cops that do their ******* job. The one's whom **** around on their job, and don't do what they're suppose to do, then they're dicks imo. ******* assholes who shouldn't have a badge. What sinful has discribed, I catorgized them as ******* assholes that don't deserve their badge!

I was more than a little upset when the operator said there was no units available.



I couldn't drive to the police station, the closest one was miles away, even though I was in the city.

Driving to the station would've meant going extremely fast through construction zones, and in Colorado, that's just not safe. (The potholes can be bigger than your wheels).



The 911 operator suggested that I stop at a store or something where there are people. Let's just say that it's 3am in suburbia, there's not a single shop within a mile open.



Thanks for eveyone's feedback, it helps. I've been having a hard time sleeping lately. All I can think about is doing triple the speed limit, my newfound contempt for police, and which piece I am going to buy.



I think I should also mention that I have come up with a few "modifications" for the FD to make it less carjacker-friendly. I will not disclose details at this time, however it will not be quite as extreme as the South African flame-thrower thing. (Think Bond-like)
