Hey guys, I was thinking of making a donation in the name of Nopistons.com to a cherity of some sort. For that matter if you guys wanted to pitch in $5.00 or $10.00 or whatever you could do that.

The one that I had in mind was http://www.savethemanatee.org

I was gonna throw out $50.00, which would adopt a manatee or two, give us a picture and all that.

What do you guys think? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

DAMMIT! Finally fixed for shits sake!

LOL last time I was out I almost bought pull tabs, drug the $20.00 out of my wallet and everything then I thought to myself, dude you aint got $20.00 to waste.

well we'll see if we get some more feedback up and I will stick a little button up, I'll just adopt the manatees if that is what we decide to do in either the name "the members of Nopistons.com" or "Nopistons.com" depending on what they will let us do.

OOOhh...My own manatee. I have always wanted a manatee. They are kinda cute too. You could get girls witha manatee. I want in on this one!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

If you are serious I can throw in $5.

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 11:13 AM

i need to start a charity....

mike

Joe Flo 01-28-2003 11:17 AM

I have two questions. What will the name be if we get to name it?

Do we get our money back if it dies? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

But seriously I really really want in on this one!!

banzaitoyota 01-28-2003 11:22 AM

How about the "Banzai Needs a Bigger Turbo Fund"

Seriously I would want to see the charities expense ratio before I give. Lots of organizations only end up contributing 20% of the take to the actual charity

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 11:28 AM

yah, banzai knows the kind of charity i would run https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

First off it won't die because I am going to donate enough to buy 2 manatees right off the bat, and your other questions is answered in the very first post.

12% goes to fund raising and administratitve costs to answer your question bonzai, which is pretty damn good.

phinsup 01-28-2003 11:52 AM

Again you can go to the corrected .org site and get all the info, I apologize for listing the wrong one. I have donated to this charity in the past.

Like I say, if there is enough interest I will just put up a link and adopt more manatees, I'll set up a little sub-cat with all the info regarding our adopted manatees.

i think that would be a good idea

mike

phinsup 01-28-2003 11:55 AM

I figure we just set up a separate little fund, and adopt them as we take in money.

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 11:56 AM

yah, sounds good

mike

phinsup 01-28-2003 12:05 PM

I'll get it up here in a few, like i say I'll just adopt them as we get the funds, keep a runnig tally on what we have. Hmmm, I gotta remember how to deposit money into my own Pay Pal account LOL

phinsup 01-28-2003 12:16 PM

OK I actually fixed the link so it works this time. The site is http://www.savethemanatee.org

Sorry about that!

Geoffman72 01-28-2003 12:41 PM

We could name them "Rotor" and "Housing"! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

phinsup 01-28-2003 12:42 PM

They are already named LOL

Geoffman72 01-28-2003 12:45 PM

hmm...perhaps I should actually click the link before posting in the future. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Joe Flo 01-28-2003 12:54 PM

Okay....I am really slow and phins said he wrote the names but I dont see them. Do we get to vote on names? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Baldy 01-28-2003 12:56 PM

I work for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (which includes the Florida Marine Research Institute), and it's amazing how many Ford Excursions tax dollars buy just for lugging around dead manatees...for some scientists, it's a full time job...collecting and performing autopsies...

very good charity :bigok:

phinsup 01-28-2003 12:56 PM

Whoops! I misread, damn it I am off today LOL

No they already have names. I thought you were talking about the name we would use for the "adoption".

My bad.

Baldy 01-28-2003 01:14 PM

Joe Flo 01-28-2003 01:23 PM

OK thanks, I couldn't tell what you meant before LOL

I have given to them before and it would be kind of fun for the forum if we could adopt a few.
