lol.. did you ever leave the car? :-p Our trip was pretty, "go, go, go". We started with 2 days in san jose at a seminar and the rest was house hunting. It wasn't wut I would call a pleasure trip. We met a lot of great people and already made some friends, for wutever reason I already long to return, I feel a bit of an ambilical connection. The beauty, the people, the culture unmatched by any place I have ever visited, no hate, no fear. Certainly puerto viejo is an interesting mix of characters with some tico's, rasta's and expats. |
looks very dusty

looks very dusty Its terrible, dont go there |
anyhow, legislation is already working on a "anti-new yorker" law.
|
besides the shots on the water, the rest looks very dusty
|
yea its terrible, no one should go there, EVER. dust everywhere, no one speaks american, its aweful. i would make sure you go some place like hawaii or bahamas.
|
actually i've never really been on a dirt road that ddnt kick up dust, but wut do i know
|
you go there once and now your anti american, your a tourist snob!
|
you know whats funny, is that after visiting central america, I tell people the same stuff. "Its horrible, dont go there!"
I will eventually get a "winter" home down there and its already bad enough with carnival running there cruises. Americans suck ass most of the time ... dont want them to ruin the most awesome layed back culture ive ever been in. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Sucks about the gogogo part, but I guess if you move down there you'll have plenty of time for the fun stuff. Keep us informed about the move, because I really am coming down after I come back from asia/euro to spend the winter months and I am for sure going to crash at your place for a few days https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png .... maybe eat all your food and take all your redbulls too! |
how quickly people forget what allows them to afford thier paradise in another country, self loathing americans!

you go there once and now your anti american, your a tourist snob! wut did i say that was anti american? By saying i like some place or am moving there i am anti america..... pretty much predicted that. The only thing i said was anti-new yorker LOL And trust me if you had been sitting in traffic here in south florida for the last three months staring at new york plates you would be too, that has NOTHING to do with costa rica and everything to do with my time here in south america. If you feel i am anti american by moving to a foreign country then fine, i still pay my taxes and I can still vote. The fact does remain that the lifestyles are different, wut is good for you may not be best for everyone. Anti-american used to be purchasing foreign jap cars........and yet here we are. |
go live with the chickens!

180 some pics and not one with a corona bottle and the caption "miles away from ordinary"
You're just gonna have to go back and make it happen! Someone was eyeballing the hammock placement very closely |

As of now, there aren't any cruises running to puerto viejo, there is one that makes a 1 day stop in Limon so the condo commando's can get off and really "experience" the local life LOL Most of the tourists in PV are european, it's really not accessible enough for americans and of course, it's too dusty and people don't speak english and everything else americans bitch about when traveling abroad. I quite drinking red bull. I don't know exactly wut are move date will be, i am heading back down in two weeks to look at some more houses, sooooo if we find something then i am guessing somme where around aug/sept. If we decide to build something then it will take 8 to 12 months depending on how big we build. |

I have said it many times and I will say it again, with the support of most of the world to back me on this. Americans are arrogant, annoying, loud, rude, mean, and for some reason tend to think they are a few levels above everyone else. This is of course a generality and may or may not reflect on you. But the fact is, its true. Ive been told this by hundreds of people I've met in walking the globe and I too have seen first hand how the general American tourist acts. I'm sorry if I (nor scott) wants to be associated with such narrow minded assholes. (like I said, this is not an attack on anyone inparticular, just on a generalization) Well I'll be gone for 6 months to a year, and I leave in may. I've already got all my stuff in order to goto belize in december and I'll be staying around central america for atleast 3 months which would make it ... what, februaryish... so hopefully you'll be down there by then, we can go tease the sloths together https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png edit: There is no corona in central america. Like scott said, its usually all local brews. Some are actually pretty darn good. |
funny you should mention LIMON, thats one of the cruise shiip commando stops on the next cruise https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Authentic? Are you saying that Phins staged this whole adventure, and the pictures were taken in a poor neighborhood in Florida? no, but costa rica wouldn't have the right look without lots of dust and other quaint things |

I didn't know Phins was a birdophile. well he's into pets in general..... |
Larry David gets called a self loathing jew in one of the episodes of Curb Your Enthisuasm, thats where the inspiration came from for my line.
I am going to Costa Rica and im going to pollute the whole country, thinking of opening a strip mall with a 7-11, a bagel store, a pizza joint, and a bar. Leave it open 24 hours a day too. |
I seem to have missed out on a lot. So you're moving to Costa Rica, and will you still have a place in Fla? Will you have a job or something there, or just live it up?

No I plan to sell the place here and retire (expatriate) to costa rica and eventually i will establish citizenship there and hold dual citizenship. If i were to move back to the us it would be a different area in florida so even if I could afford to keep the house here i wouldnt. |
Cool cool.
