If someone said thier rotory had a oil leak, then they blew the engine one day, I would assume they seized it up right? Does a rotory still turn over when it has been run out of oil? What would be the internal engine damage for a rotory engine that had been run out of oil? I know a piston engine, but this one I dont know. Only because my spare vert that I got, I decided today to hook a booster up to it, and it was turning over, very fast like it had no compression, but it has also been sitting over a year. Is it worth a shot to do the ATF thing, and try again? I got the car right before the winter, and never did a thing with it, with my car being in the exaust shop today, I got to thinking maybe the engine in the other one wasnt total ****?

Just like a piston engine, everything rides on bearings, and the cumbustion chamber requires a little oil for lubrication(rotaries need a lot)
So a rotary that has been run with no oil has the same consequences as a piston engine. Scored and burnt bearings, scored eccentric shaft and rotor housings, just plain BAD |
