I was just wondering how many of you all read and if so, what you're reading now.

I'm in the middle of "Master Spy," a book about Robert P. Hanssen.

On my "to-read" list though I have the LoTR series, Michael Crichton's "Prey," Iian Banks's "Wasp Factory," and William Gibson's "Pattern Recognition."

Like I said, it's a shot in the dark https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png , but I was just wondering...

lxk199 03-02-2003 08:00 PM

I read almost anything...I just finished up some Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and Loathing); one of Henry Rollins's books (Get In The Van-for you Rollinites); "Bringing Down the House"-about the MIT kids who took Vegas for like $10 million over a couple years. Right now I am re-reading Stephen King's "Everything's Eventual", his latest collection of short stories...So, yeah. I read

Dysfnctnl85 03-02-2003 08:47 PM

Dude, my friend bought that book, "Bringing Down the House" after an article I showed him from Wired. He has yet to let me borrow it...If the article is any indication of what the book's like, it'll be awesome.

If I try reading a novel, I forget what happened in the beginning by the time I'm halfway through. Also, if it has more than 3 names or characters to remember, I get them all mixed up. I like reading Discover magazine, MotorTrend (mostly for the pictures), and newspapers. The science stuff is my fav. I guess I'm an instant-gratification-reader.

teknics 03-03-2003 02:39 PM

i like the choose your own adventure books https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

kevin.

I always think the Haynes manual is a choose your own adventure book (remove the air intake, throttle body, and surge tank...refer to pages 4a-12, 47c, and z-147...if you are disassembling the engine, skip the above and move to step 27q)

treceb 03-03-2003 02:43 PM

i also like pop up books,

like playboy.

No, but I'll reconsider now that you've said that.

Apollorx7 03-03-2003 04:00 PM

If you like any of the Lord of The Rings books then you should read the Sillmarillion. It's about all of the mythology that the characters talk about in LoTR. Its really complex but I think it is better that all of the other books. Right now Im reading The Inferno by Dante

9BASE3 03-03-2003 04:09 PM

I read my keyboard when I type... Cause I suck ass at typing...

I also read the tags of girls clothes I'm taking off before we get down... At least I can tell if she's a cheap slut or just easy.

Geoffman72 03-03-2003 04:12 PM

I havent read any books in two years at least. I've been meaning to read the LOTR series but just havent done it.

Dysfnctnl85 03-03-2003 07:43 PM

I forgot to mention Kevin Mitnick's "The Art of Deception" and various books on quantum mechanics...in laymen's terms of course...something my physics teacher recommended.

BigTurbo74 03-03-2003 11:37 PM

i like grishim books, Iron John,,, learn what it means to be a man!!!!!!

treceb 03-04-2003 08:04 AM

the only stephen king book ive read is eye of the dragon.

Travisty 03-04-2003 08:13 AM

if you liked the LOTR series then you will like the Song of Albion series by Stephen R. Lawhead.

Celtic lore mixed with real world its pretty cool i have read the series like 5 times through.

DJ Rotor 03-04-2003 08:32 AM

Haven't been reading that much lately . . .

Like:

LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion - I've read LOTR 3 time, Hobbit probably 6 times

Ray Bradbury - especially the Martian Chronicles

Thoreau - Walden

Jane Austen - all five - I've read Pride and Prejudice at least four times

Dickens - Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield - Dickens is one of the great realists

Hemingway - Old Man and the Sea is a minor miracle of literature

Robert Frost - I have the Complete Robert Frost, and have read all of it.

Shakespeare - I never met a Shakespeare play I didn't like.

and of course the Bible, indispensable.

Don't like:

Stephen King

Edgar Allen Poe

Just about any modern "series novels" - what a waste of time.

Dysfnctnl85 03-04-2003 04:14 PM

I'm sure a lot of you have seen Fight Club, and hopefully thought it was an incredible movie.

Anywho, I failed to mention Chuck Palahniuk, my fav. other next to Neal Stephenson. He wrote Fight Club and a few other books which are awesome in their own right. Check em out.

Does it matter either way, your still getting laid.

I would take a cheap slut over a over an easy chick just cause I know she wont try to take any of my money

Anyways the only things I read I are Maxim, Stuff, C&D, MT, Playboy(accually read it), and the occasional Super Street and such. I cant read a book cause My mind starts to wander off if anything I read is more then a page long so its worthless, Damn ADD

TYSON 03-05-2003 10:49 AM

'Without Remorse' is the best Tom Clancy book I've read so far. He seems to be going downhill in an attempt to put out a book every month, ala Stephen King.

I have to admit I read all the Clive Cussler books I see, even though they are pretty corny.

'The Overseer' by Jonathan Rabb and 'The Prometheus Deception' by Robert Ludlum are pretty good.

My tastes seem to be the military, spy, crime adventure novels you get at the airport.

winger 03-05-2003 10:57 AM

i read threads about people reading books
