We are going to the Black Cat club Saturday to see the Dismemberment Plan play.

Black Cat is Dave Ghrol's club so you should get an idea of the type of music generally plays there.

I'm about 40 min. north of DC

If you just need something to do.

The 9:30 Club is probably the best music bar to go to.

It's a bad neighbor hood but you won't get shot or anything. There is a metro stop two blocks away.

It's 3 levels high with balconies and several bars. 202-930-3930 is there number for the concert line.

You can just pay at the door. 9:30 club website



Georgetown has lots of bars but the crowd is really stuff. You better bring your Bemmer or Mecedes if you want to hang.



Down town near 18th and M street there is most of the better bars/Gentlemans clubs.

The better one is Nexus Gold Club but that is down near Capitol hill in SE...... Ghettoville.

Watch your wallet if you go there. Once inside though it's ******* awesome from what I hear.



The monuments and mueseums are touristy boring fodder that you shouldn't waste your time on.





There are a ton of other places that I didn't mention but you can decide what you want to do.



DC is a grid and is easy to get around in if you know the grid.



It is as follows...



The capitol is the center. You have four quadrants. NE,NW,SE,SW

The blocks count out away form the capitol. So A & 1st. Street are right at the Capitol.

That repeats in all 4 quads. Then you have the state streets that run diagonally through the city.

Like Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Florida..etc



Connecticut is basically North & South criss crossing 17th street.

Wisconsin Ave. Is the same North and South through way for Georgetown/Bethesda and Chevy Chase.



The numbered streets run north and south.

The lettered streets run East and West.



If you watch your hundred blocks you should always be able to find your way back to the capitol or your Hotel.
