Just wondering if anyone has some experience with this and wondering is it worth it?

There are quite a few places now that make and sell these any good leads to quality at reasonable prices?

Also is it better to get the same color LED that the lens is colored, or is it better to just get a white bulb?

I want some for my regular house bulbs, I swear I change at least 3 bulbs a week.

I want someone to invent a dimmable CFD, so I can stop changing light bulbs 20 feet up in the bar.

autolumination.com and superbrightleds.com sell them.. i have bought from both for my s10.. definately better since you dont have to worry about them burnin out.. i heard gettin the same color as the lens works better.. also the blinkers might blink all fast since they have lower resistance than incandescent bulbs.

i those those guys also sell stuff for house bulbs.. probably expensive.. LEDtronics.com it another place.. they are local to me.. but $$

CFD = Constant fraction discriminator?

They make dimmable CFL's already.

Looks like for a worthwhile LED light bulb with a standard Edison base you're looking at ~$54 each at most online retailers. I'm probably gonna try to upgrade one-two bulbs per month for the next year or so. I already run CFL's in the bathroom, laundry room and kitchen. They're bueno. LED's don't function with dimmers, however, so any dimmed circuit will require a dimmable CFL.

I have a CFL in my kitchen that just quit working. It's only been in intermittent service like a year. What's up with that?

Sinful7 11-13-2007 03:42 PM

Sounds like a bunk bulb.. Are there any other lights on the circuit, or just the one CFL bulb?

There's 3 CFL's on that circuit. I was swapping out the incandescent floodlight bulbs when they burned out, but I've got all three switched over to CFL now.

Nice work. CFL's FTW. I love them in the bathroom, 'cause they take a min to warm up. For the late night potty breaks, it's nice to have the lights brighten gradually.
