Yea they had an XM Cafe show a few days ago, very good, music and stories.

jayshadow 10-10-2003 07:00 AM

His voice is very smooth and mellow. So you can like get into the song.

UniqueTII 10-10-2003 11:04 AM

Every song sounds the same except if you actually listen to them.

The band will be back in the studio in January...I can't wait to catch them on the next tour. If anyone doesn't have Dave's project Some Devil, go get it now. It's one of the best CDs I've ever heard.

Yeah, music hasn't been the same since Hendrix died...it's been good.

9BASE3 10-10-2003 11:20 AM

If you think Dave's music is all the same try playing it... I'm a 12 year guitar player and that **********er still rocks me... Some of thier music has similarities... Buy it's very original.

All FD's were made the same, just different trim options and colors... Nobodys complaining that they are all the same!! LOL

DMB... Awesome. I've seen them a couple of times... and i'm always sure to have my "sack" handy. You wouldnt believe how much mary jane floats around his concerts. anyway, Long time fan.. DMB is the good stuff

=markus

"Everyone shut up and get high!"

p.s - is that stuff legal yet? it should be.

It's **** like that, that made my wife and I leave a concert that I payed over $90 for us to go to. We nearly left another $60 concert for the same reason. I'll never go to another concert again. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

Travisty 10-10-2003 12:26 PM

yeah i think the only reason he has such a huge fanbase is cause everyone who goes to his concerts just tokes up and obviously they are gonna like the music if they are blazed.

personally i dont like DMB. i have a lot of friends who do and i cant stand it.

UniqueTII 10-10-2003 12:30 PM

That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day. Nice work.

Maybe...just maybe...they have such a huge fan base because they're all talented musicians who don't play the same old crap. Dave knows more than 3 chords, and who else has a sax player, violinist, and keyboardist?

I don't mind people who don't like DMB, Dave and Tim, or any other musical effort from Dave Matthews, but when you start knocking his talent, then it's obvious you don't know **** about music.

Very much agreed. I know some very musically talented people (composers and such) who can't stand DMB, but they do admit DMB has marvelous talent.

jayshadow 10-10-2003 01:54 PM

Yeah give them there Credit. They are good. The songs they write seem to hit on a deeper note when you really listen to them.

phinsup 10-10-2003 02:03 PM

There are a lot of people at various shows that smoke a bowl or so, it's not only common to DMB, of course I spend most my time at Buffett concerts, so it's just part of the experience, it doesn't make the artist shitty. That's like saying the reason you drink too much when you go out is because you hate your friends.

9BASE3 10-10-2003 03:01 PM

Dave Matthews also has Lyme disease. Could be a reason he talks about drinking ang getting high.

There is also WAY more than that in his music... Just seems that the **** like that is all that people notice..

Anyway... I love his music. Makes me feel good, and that's how I like to feel. SO THERE. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

He and his sister have a children's charity, and that's cool as **** in my world.

Seen that at the Gorge in Eeastern Washington 4 times......I much more like the older stuff, i.e., crash into me, trippin' billies, watchtower, etc, etc.

Watchtower was Jimmy Hendrix, but I hear ya!

DMB does a kick-ass cover, though.

rotarychainsaw 10-10-2003 05:37 PM

Jimi Hendrix is definately my favorite artist that I've never really listened to. I've heard a song or 2 on the radio and can tell why he is such a legend. Never bought a cd or anything yet though.

As for people who actually like to listen to original bands with talent.... THE MARS VOLTA!!!!!!! listen to them now, not very mellow though.

If you are talking about the song All Along the Watchtower, that song was written and originally recorded by Bob Dylan.
