Hey guys, I'm working on building a new computer and was planning on going with one of the AMD 64 chips... but being new technology and WinXP 64 in beta... I'm worried to even make the attempt, but...
does anyone in here run the AMD 64 chips yet?? what do you think of it? Any issues or problems? I may go with the Intel Prescott to be on the safe side... but if the AMD is worth getting... then 64 bit it will be... Thanks... Jay |
It will be very worth it once 64bit software is on the market. Right noe it's kinda useless. One thing you should do is look for a board and HD that have SATA(serial ATA)

I've been using a 64 3200 for a couple months now and am very happy with it. I run Win XP pro 32 bit. Remember, even in 32 bit mode it's still faster than just about everything else on the market.

Yup, and once win64 comes out it will be even better. I hear those prescotts are running super hot and killing boards or something too.

Wait till DDR2 RAM comes out, then start shopping.

I run an AMD 64 on a Gigaboard. I just got this new set up about two weeks ago. It runs well. No issues yet. I am running 2gigs of corsair DDR so that helps aswell.
