Have you ever just sat there with your piston car just imagining you have a rotary? Call me insane, i know i've made posts out of control on just about the same topic but just about all i can think about is rotaries and having one. I draw rotors and housings all over my paper all day at school. I can't read about supras for mroe than 10 minutes before i get bored yet i can sit here all day. I don't know. I wanna mod my Supra but money on that is money that could go toward a rotary.

I really like ridin in my car and hearing the loud whine if my engine.. instead of that lumpy rough sound the boingers make..

My inline 6 is one of the smoothest sounding engines i've ever heard.

75 Repu 09-17-2003 12:31 AM

Cuz you don't have a rotary.. some boingers may sound smooth... but they do not have the distinct rotary sound.. My brother has a lancruiser with the damn inline 6 too.. i think it is also a 2jz.. anyway.. it is smooth.. but does not have that jet like sound to it.. I get WOOD just thinking about it..!!!

Srce 09-17-2003 09:28 AM

****, I do that every day. On the bus too.

Baldy 09-17-2003 09:35 AM

My boinger is a motorcycle, so I enjoy the rumble, and the vibration feedback I get from the bike. And it's nice being able to hear every distinct "glug glug glug" from the engine. By the way, my 7's exhaust sounds like ass, so that's why I currently prefer the voice of the bike.

And I love the simplicity of the rotory, pure genious. But I can't help marvel at how someone can take all the moving parts of a piston engine and make them all work together, correctly.

yeah ssame thing here. I am amazed a scared of how so many parts work continously together in a piston engine. To tell u the truth im scared of pistons. Rotaries are much more simpler, sound sweeter and are just hot. They do get u upset when something goes wrong and no mechanic will work on your car. But hey more money saved if u do it ureself and u will be one of the lucky few who understands the true genius of a rotary combustion engine.

Pistons um ya make good paper weights...

yes the rotary. I used to be a piston guy..but I was converted...I just love the idea of 3 moving parts on the inside...so simple so sweet soooo easy to make power, and nothing to rob you of it.

Are you kidding? Drawing rotors is all I do in calculus!

sixspeed 09-17-2003 10:44 AM

Hmmm.. well whilst I've been bored waiting for my RX-8, I've been pretending my G40 is a rotary. Lol. Just had a few tweeks done which pushes the redline to 8000 rpm, so its starting to run like one too :p

Watch this clip - a mate said they thought it sounded like a rotary as well!

my brother's friend has a 626 and i don't know why, he's really convinced he has a 3 rotor engine, probably even a 4 rotor engine....... i don't know what's up with that kid https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

doesnt matter what engine is in what kinda car. its if u can appreciate what that car is good for

UniqueTII 09-17-2003 02:13 PM

I love my boxer engine!!!

Dramon_Killer 09-17-2003 03:28 PM

I wrote "Rotary Powered" the other day on my running shoes and drew a lil rotor on each one. Then on the opposite side i wrote 1300cc.

you've got a lot of toys - wanna be my friend?

j9fd3s 09-17-2003 04:22 PM

my piston powered car is staying piston powered becuase it sounds so good, otherwise the 5000rpm redline would be a deal breaker

Dramon_Killer 09-17-2003 08:54 PM

I rode in my friend's FB today. Even though it was a 12a it was so awesome. First time i've ever ridden in a rotary sadly. I'm even more hooked..

Apex13B 09-17-2003 09:38 PM

that's pretty sad dramon, LOL

just get an old FB and tool around in it if you like them that much. They're cheap and run forever

Dramon_Killer 09-17-2003 09:46 PM

Must...have...3rd gen...

Apex13B 09-17-2003 09:49 PM

FD's cost too much for a kid like you

Gen2RXSeven 09-17-2003 10:14 PM

I wish my fb ran forever. well, maybe after rebuild. lol right now I'm stuck with a 91 sable as daily driver. is ok for what it is (oversized grocery getter/grandma hauler) but atleast I got the bigger engine choice. lol Maybe in a few months I'll have the FB back on the road.

but in answer of the question. everyday I wish I had my RX7 running!

Jims5543 09-17-2003 10:19 PM

I love the smooth linear power of my rotary.

I love how it pulls all the way up to 9K RPM.

I have to admit though that I love the other cars I have owned or own for their qualities too.

My '00 Mustang GT Vert for top down loud rumbling exhaust and throw you back in the seat torque. (just sold this to buy the Mini)

I love my Mini Cooper S its engine reminds me of my old 1984 RX-7 it redlines at almost 7K RPM it is very very smooth and delivers the power very evenly. What really reminds me of my old FB is that when I shift between gears the RPM's seem to linger there for a minute. Like the car seems to enjoy being revved up. My FB used to do the same thing.

I got to drive my dads 2000 C-5 Vert on the street and on an Autocross course it is the most forgiving car I have ever driven. It makes a so so driver look GOOD. So well balance so much power. (My TII spanks it though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... )

I got to Autocross a Honda S2000 that was an amazing car as well. It is a total PIG off the line but once at speed it really rotates well. It corners just like my dads FD.

I got to drive my cousins 73 Porsche 911T worked over by Black Forest Racing of Boca Ratton Florida. This car was a street legal race prepped monster. I have never felt a car that was so confident in turns at very hight speeds like this car. I was taking I-95 clover leaf ramps at 100 MPH and it was effortless. The steering on that car was the epitome of precision.

I love all cars. Dont turn your nose up other cars you might miss something fun.

Yup.. My older brother makes around 100k a year.. and he still bitches about how expensive it would be to maintain if he got one.. hahah... I beleive Series 7 told me this.. "if you have to save up to get an FD.. you can't afford it.."

Rdrtech - thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png It's my baby! (til the RX-8 arrives https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR)

Hoping I can keep it for a while longer, but it's not a cheap one to run. Does sound good though (http://www.sixspeed.nildram.co.uk/Mi...candriveby.wmv) :p

The G40 is great fun too, if a little unrefined! 170bhp in 800kg means it can embarress some big cars! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Always good fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

wanksta 09-20-2003 02:11 AM

I got a ride in a Convair not to long ago. It has 18 cylinders. Two rows of 9 cylinders. Like somebody said I could not imagine how much stuff is slinging back and forth in that engine. The amount of boost that it was capable of in WWII was insane. Milatary take off power was up 62" of HG on 140 ocatane. Piston engines are just as intresting to me.

I am very cognizant of the fact that the World wasn't built with Rotaries, it was built with pistons.

However, there is something to be said for the simplicty of the Wankel design. It is great to be different!
