My fawkin daily driver wont start. SHIOT!!!
Ok: 89 Escort GT. 1.9 EFI. Drove FINE for the past..... hell I dunno... Forever.... Parked it. I got sick... It got cold outside. 5 days went by. Went to start it. It cranked right up. Died. Wouldn't fire back up. Just keeps turning over. Put Dry Wire all over the place.. You know... that water repellant ****.... Nothing. ETHER: Fired up for a sec.... Crapped out. Seems like its not getting fuel... What the ****? Fuel pumps die in parked cars? Just cold? Just doesn't like me? JUST WANT'S ME TO DRIVE THE PRISTINE ******* FD IN THE WINTER???????? GODDAMMIT.... Anybody have ANY idea what to look at? Thanks. |
First thing, check to see if you're getting spark, and check the fuel pressure.
|
yeah your fuel line is frozen and it started off of the gas that was in the engine already

Well, it gets spark... Haven't checked the FP yet...
|

my ex gf's fuel pump died when her 80's accord sat for a week in winter after I lost the key. I ended up changing the pump in 1 foot of snow and freezing rain, and autozone decided to give me a replacement pump with the inlet/outlet swapped vs. the OEM one I removed, had me scratching my head for a few hours while my testicles grew icicles. At least it was an external pump and I didnt have to deal with the full tank of gas https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png ....
Cars hate to not be driven, thats always when **** breaks, when they sit for more than a few days. At least in my experiences. |
A long shot, but check the fuel pump cut-off switch. It's designed to cut power to the fuel pump when the car gets in an accident, but sometimes gets flipped for dumb reasons (like running out of gas). Its location should be in the owners manual, but it is typically in the trunk, under some carpet, on the side.
