Exhaust ban in MA is imminent again but this time they might actually pass it!!!

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/10/m...fied-exhausts/

"Legislators in Massachusetts are set to introduce a bill in October that will ban modified exhausts in the land of a certain tea party and the world's best baked beans. The pious patriots over at SEMA have been fighting this day for years, but the politicians have decided they've had enough with the Flowmasters, already. The proposed law doesn't make a whole lot of sense, as Massachusetts already has a noise ordinance in place, and the bill doesn't even have any clear standard for the law to enforce. Lawmakers want to specifically ban any "exhaust system which has been modified in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the exhaust." While we're not all that excited about annoying exhausts that can wake a trauma victim out of a coma, we'd like to see this proposal go the way of the Boston Braves."

I see this as a well intentioned, but ultimately useless bill. As a resident of the commonwealth I testify that there are a number of noise ordinances that are NOT enforced. Politicians are wasting time with this bill, basically many enthusiasts are going to get pulled over for FACTORY INSTALLED sport exhaust systems.

The current system for removing excessive noise is already in place why not ENFORCE it, instead of wasting my tax money drafting pointless bills and impeding on the hobbies of automotive enthusiast's. I plead with all MA enthusiests to please join SEMA

SAN http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62241and rally against this bill by writing to their local representative.

yeah, those bastids are sneaky.. here in cali its at the officers discretion.. i got a exhaust ticket on my old mazda truck many years back.. i went to a sheriff station and he printed out the regulation that i was cited for.. it basically states that you cannot modify your exhaust beyond stock.. the officer there was cool and he told me its there so dickhead cops can abuse it and throw the book at you if they feel like it.. gay !
