Would appreciate some advice on converting the drums on my 84 GS to GSL solid discs with an eye toward staying NASA legal. Thanks in advance.

I just did it on my 84 GS not to hard. took about 3 hours with a lift and all the tools. its a good thing to change struts and springs if you are going to. I also changed the sway bar.

Did you just change the brakes out or did you swap an entire axle assembly.
|
I changed everything it was a lot easier

Thanks...that seems to be the way to go.

some people say you need a balancer,or whatever that thing is call,,to even out the braking,,i havn't used one and my disk brake conversion
works fine,,your going to need the e brake cable from the gsl,and the rear brake lines,,,depending on what year gsl you get the rear out of it's a good idea to grab the drive shaft too,,don't forget to get some LSD rear end fluid too,,,WD-40 works good to spray on the bushings if you don't buy new ones...good luck. |
