I have heard form about 10 mechanics that the 3ed gen is not that good. Poor construction, stock parts are bad, like radiators. Poor engine construction. They just say this about the 3ed gen. Other are cool.

So HONESTLY guys, are the 3ed gen alot of work? in terms of things breaking and various problems.

Want pictures of mine? Just imagine it without the jackstands and the hood being closed https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Well if you want to drive a nice sports car you are gonna have to work on it. Mazda just had a thing for plastic parts and it ruined the reliability. But if you know how to replace the parts with better ones everything should be okay https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yes they are unrealiable.. the engine is good.. just that many mechanics are not knowledgeable with rotaries.. But it is a sexy ******* car,,

so whats the verdict? THey say 2nd gen is great, its just the 3rd they complain about, so that fact that its not a new car is not it. So they are not very relible. Are they more relible then the new ford mustangs?

fritzfry 08-13-2003 12:45 PM

3rd gen has heat issues, complicated turbo system, and great sensitivity to lack of fuel in a/f (when modified). i guess most mechanics out there that are not specifically experienced with the car cannot fix it when things go wrong or they diagnose incorrectly. but then again, i've been lucky..nothing major so far w/ mine albeit stock. But when something does go wrong i'll be right here in this forum asking people that have seen it all!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

ite car is fine. You jsut have to take the precautionary steps to prevent bad stuff from happening. Alot of it is just stuff that happened to one person, and they post about it on a forum and the whole community flips out.

epion2985 08-13-2003 01:13 PM

normaly it would make sence but I mean my friend talked to multiple mechanics who work on rotaries every day, they knwo ther stuff. So its not the lack of knowledge.

so what are the things one that just bought a 3rd gen should watch out for and what steps one must take to prevent crap from happening?
