My dad has a drag boat and this will be his first year racing. Its a berkley jet drive with a chevy 454 in it.

Welp, ive convinced him to rotorize it!!! We've got 7k (actually more but he wants to make that the engine budget) to spend on a 3 rotor 20b rotary engine for it.

Whatcha got? Were racing it against pistons.....i wanna make them cry. What kinda packages are there?

rfreeman27 04-20-2004 09:56 PM

There arent really any "packages"

Find a 20b

Rebuild w/ a big arse port and a big turbo and have fun. can turbos and boats mix?

FDRacing 04-20-2004 10:01 PM

yea they can but hes supercharging it i think, u can SC a rotary right?

I thought maybe you could buy them reman and ported like you can 13b's.

Atkins has 9" and 12" SCs for the 20B.

i couldnt find a listing on actual 20b's there tho : (

you need torque for drag racing boats, not sure if you will

get all that you need.

a stock 454 probably has more torque then a modified 20b

i was thinking the difference in weight combined with the fact that the rotrs spint he same way as the jet drive would make up for it. The races he will be in are from a rolling start.

i'm not sure how much a 20b weighs, but i know a 13b-rew weighs more than a chevy ls1, i would assume that the 20b+ic+icpipes+turbos wouild weigh a decent amount

hmmm, i figured there was a reason people dont use the rotories in racing boats too often but i assumed it was because they dont know or understand them.

it is because they don't know or understand them, you can still have a powerful 20b, but i don't know if it can keep up with a blown454, specially on a 7k budget
