I recently attended a local drift event and i met this kid there with a rx8 who i started talking to and he told me that his dealer told him he herd that a 2005 rx7 will have a 1.5L N/A rotary engine...and that it will be offered in a turbo form called MazdaSpeed Rx7 ...
i dont know if this rumor has been around for a wile but i just herd of it recently and wondering i anyone else has herd of it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif then again its just a rumor... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif |
Never heard of it. Sounds cool tho.
|
Was this kid in jersey?
|
yea from jersey
|
that would be nice, but it may be too good to be true
|
He propably heard it from road and track. They said something that a turbo version will be the mazdaspeed version. But they have yet to bring the seven back. So this is just a rumor from mazda. And i thought that they would keep the engine a 1.3 liter?
|
i hope they do and pray to god that it is pretty
|
i hope it looks nothing like the rx8 and more like the FD
|
I've seen the prototype pix that Mazda has released and the FE is based on the RX-8's chassis. It unfortunatly resembles the 8 as well. Don't get me wrong, I love the RX-8, but there's just something so sexy about the body lines of an FD. But the displacement increase as well as the "MazdaSpeed Turbo" version were in an official press release from Mazda Japan. Just thought I would try to shed some light on the subject. Laterz.

I've also heard that there would be a larger version of the Renesis, I think 1.5L was the figure I heard as well.
Zach you don't happen to have more details on that press release? J |
You would think they would have just launched the larger motor when they put the RX8 out, it's not like they were on a time crunch.
|
**** the 1.5 L design...get me the .666 X 3 rotors design!

Hmmm... I dunno if you can have a 3rotar Renesis with its new port design.. or am I mistaken? Anybody know if a 3rotar Renesis is possible?
Needs some thought and a custom eshaft. |
I dont think it would need a custom e-shaft. Regular 20b e-shaft would work I think. The rotors are still the same width. You'd need a custom center plate ( front center?)

That rumor is months old guys. We have hears rumors of 1.4 and 1.5l renesis style enginess since before the RX-8 came out. We can only hope they come through with a larger displacement Rotary. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
BTW- FE is INDEED the chasis designation of the RX-8 and not the next gen 7 so if it does come back it would be the FF not the FE. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Santiago |
Oh great a 4'th gen with a FF code i can see where that is goin to go.

And to whoever it was that wanted to know more about the press release. They were quoted as shooting for a 2000lbs. curb weight with 300 normally aspirated hp stock. I just don't see that curb weight being right with as obeese as that proposed body looks. But they mentioned they were going to get that hp by raising the displacement instead of using forced induction. That's about all I know, the rest of the specifics I have long since forgotten. I read that article about 4 or 5 months ago. Hope that helps to clarify the situation a little bit for you. Laterz. Zach |
