I'm interested in the CF hood.I have a LS1 motor in my 94 RX7 and not sure if it's going to fit, what are the chances I'm able to come to your shop and test fit the hood to see if it works first.I bought 2 99 spec front ends from already. Thanks John[quote name='rotaryextreme' date='May 4 2005, 05:26 PM']I want to host a group buy on the Rotary Extreme N1 hood. Dang Chuck, I just promised my wife to be that I'd get on a budget... We are getting married Saturday and we are planning to get some bills paid off this year. Then here you go and post this, are you trying to get me divorced already??? I've got that guy from Alaska's car as my desktop background now (trying to get used to a carbon fiber hood on a white 7). I'm wanting the hood real bad but I think the wife will veto the idea...

treceb 05-10-2005 01:16 PM

chuck, for your hoods, do you recommend hood pins or is the stock latch good enough?

rotaryextreme 05-10-2005 03:07 PM

John:

I am not sure if it's going to fit. You can come down with your car and we can figure it out from there.

Chuck

Just tell you wife that you will get it eventually and since it's cheaper now, it's a good idea to get it now than later. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yes, I recommend hood pins on all hoods no matter who makes it. The stock latch catch is very weak. The spot welds break off sometimes. That happens to two of my customers already with the stock hood. I even recommend hood pins on the stock hood.

DougFD3S 05-10-2005 06:25 PM

I too would like to know if this will fit an LS1 FD.

SilverSeven 05-10-2005 10:47 PM

I'm not going to promise, but from what I can tell it should fit. The vents look deep, but that's mainly because of the raised area around them. I just went downstairs and measured mine. The forward-most edges of the vents protrude less than 3/8ths of an inch below the framing of the hood, which is thinner than the framing on the stock hood. So if an LS1 fits under a stock hood with the pad on it, it should fit under this one beautifully. If you could give me measurements of the LS1, I could check again with certainty.

Tim Benton again again 06-12-2005 08:55 PM

I've always loved the look of the N1 hood. I ask Chuck along time ago about fitment with a M2 med IC. Anyone have the hood with a SMIC of some sort so we can kind of see if we'll have issues?

Tim

rotaryextreme 06-14-2005 08:12 PM

The N1 hood will fit with the M2 IC. 2 weeks left.

So, how many people are in so far? Would it help to advertise this on the "other" forum also? I'd like to be in on this but will wait towards the end of the month so I can pull some funds together. I agree though, Chuck, you always bring these GBs or deals up just when I save up the money lol

rotaryextreme 06-20-2005 06:35 PM

Only one payment so far. I didn't pay for the advertisement fees there so I can't advertise there.

I sent the payment registered mail. It's probably taking longer because of Canada Day which was last Friday. I imagine you'll have it by tomorrow. Let me know if you don't see it. Thanks, -Joe
