How does water injection benefit an na motor?

phinsup 04-11-2005 02:47 PM

Yea i wondered the same.

Lothema 04-11-2005 03:01 PM

in the QA section i found this post:

3/20/2005 11:41:40 AM Richard From Seattle Asks: i have 1987 rx7 with a 13b. i know you have run you system on these motors. do i have to drill any holes? how long will the installation take? how much hp gains will there be? richard

Coolingmist Responds: Richard, if you have a turbo motor you will see more gains. In typical applications the water injection is designed to supress detonation and to allow you to run more boost or timing. that is where the gains come. Alot of cars suffer from heatsoak..these cars will gain the most. We have cars gain 20-25 hp with just bolting the system up. This is due to the computer advancing the timing due to the low intake temps the system creates. You have to drill holes to install the injectors. See the pictures section in our top menu to see an install. Thanks!

im just getting out of this that it mostly just decreases detonation

comments?

Shane.Trammell 04-11-2005 04:20 PM

so 20 to 25 on turbo or na?

Lothema 04-11-2005 05:15 PM

i had read it as saying that it was turbo that did that, but only some of them would get that gain from just bolting it on

coolingmist 04-11-2005 08:40 PM

Sorry bout the long delay, monday's are a bit insane around here. The HP gains that were quoted were on some turbo cars (SRT's, STI's etc).

Any car will gain HP with the kit if you tune for it. We dont have before and after data for N/A cars. Its our opinion if the car is suffering from knock it will work exceptional for an n/a car. I would not expect to hook the kit up and gain more than 5-6 HP on a n/a car unless you change your timing or fuel maps etc.

We sell alot of n/a kits and know they work, its just that turbo cars suffer from insane heatsoak and this kit eliminates that which lets your car gain your power back.

alright, thanks a lot!

what would you recommended to use on a boosted 20B?

I would suggest our deluxe dual stage kit.

The first stage has a smaller injector that runs on low boost that cools the air first, then the second stage is larger injector and higher boost.

thanks!

Is there anyway to run this kit using SS hose and -An fittings? Looks like the pump could be used with AN fittings... but do you have a source for the injector holders that accept them?

Hi, our injector holders and solenoid barbs are 3/16 barb fittings. The ports in the PUMP and the PORTS in the injector holder are 1/8th Female NPT ports. If our fittings do not work, you will need to get fittings for the hose. It can be done, you just need some of the right fittings.

Thanks!
