What is the motion sensor in the PS3 controller used for?

Also, you say:

if you use the voice chat, group chat, etc, etc... then the xbox is the winner. If you are like myself and you hop online to play games with your friends and prefer to use a phone or email to chat with them then xbox online advantages are pretty much null.

Why, is PS3 chat not very good, or not possible? I use game and party chat a lot on my xbox, what's really different about it on the PS3?

they don't have cross game chat on psn like they do for live. in other words, you can only talk to people you're playing with/against. i kinda prefer this though as it gets kinda hard to develop strategy when your teammates are in party chat with others. that's just IMO though

as far as motion controls, there are a few games that use it including lair, warhawk, and i believe hawx.

Think of the ps3 remote as a combination of the wii remote and the xbox remote, you can use it in racing games to steer, etc, etc.... A lot of games implement it to some degree, even End War uses it, you move the controller up and down to move to the sat screen.

Like thatpoorguy said on the chat, you can chat with people you are playing with, you cannot chat with people who are say watching a movie, etc, etc... I never used that feature on xbox so I don't miss it. I play mostly team games and people get pissed if you are chatting elsewhere and can't hear them. PS3 chat in game is the same as xbox as far as chatting with team mates or everyone in a briefing room.

i agree. i love my ps3. its three years old and has NEVER skipped a beat. only thing you need to do is clean the cooling system. its a dust magnet. my fan is kinda noisy but honestly thats when i'm playing for a while and my room gets hot...

the newer slim ones are much more efficient. power usage, cooling, etc.
