ok i have a SERIOUS question. i helped organize last years. rx7 vs supra day @ atco. it was fun but the supra's won. we had a total of about 40 cars only. my question is i am thinking about organizing another event @ island dragway in NJ but with a slight change. how do you guys feel about supra engine cars vs rotary powered cars ? having three classes , N/A , Power Adder, and RACE classes. my friend and i are trying to find the best way to have the most fun for everyone this is the best solution we can possibly think of. please post any ideas or suggestions. again i gain nothing from organizing the event except i get to race https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i like this better than just supras vs rx7's



we can have street cars like 240 nissans with supra motors against other street toyata corollas with TII motors



more competition and still keeps the 'supra vs rx7' theme



this also allows for pro cars with non stock engines, like a backhalved Mx-6 with a 3 rotor engine or a pair of solaras with 1400 hp 2jz motors

Here's my opinion on this, go with the NHRA rules as far the different classes are concerned, this will make it more evenly competitive, you can't have some guy in a 2 rotor making 600RWHP racing a guy with a 2JZ with 900RWHP and the same weight, this is how I would do it:

Pro = NHRA Pro RWD Rules

Street class= NHRA Sport RWD Rules

Halfback = NHRA Modified Rules



This is the only way it'll make things competitive, as far as the NA Application goes(only because the NHRA doesn't allow any 6cyl's in ALL MOTOR), you'll have to add weight to the 2JZ's because of the displacement. This can be worked out between everyone to find a medium as far as the racing goes. Just my 2 cents.

ok, good points, we were just trying to keep things a lil simple. you still didn't comment on the inclusion of non stock motored cars this year instead of only rx7's and supras. do you think its a good idea to allow any cars as long as they are rotary or supra powered?

As long as the weight requirements are the same, I think it'll be great, in other words follow the NHRA rules as above, only thing different is that you can have it in any body as long as it meets the weight.

we wanted to simplify it further because we're expecting pretty much only having street cars show up

bullish isnt gonna come to this event if theres no real payout



so we just figured we would throw whatever 1 or 2 grassroots guys with backhalved cars that show up into one 'race class'



but you're right its prolly better to just follow nhra class rules, while allowing only rotary and supra engined cars
