I bought my 87 NA about 2 months ago and am thinking of doing the J-Spec swap, I got a shop to price it out for me and this is what they came up with...is it too much $$? Any advice is appreciated.
Engine, Trans, Comp, Complete Harness, Stock intercooler, Full driveshaft, Rear Axles, MAF, 5 lug conversion for the rear. $2000 Installation $400 Down Pipe $75 TII Hood $300 MISC $100 (Oil, coolant, plugs, filter, throttle cable, Slave cylinder line) 5 Lug Conversion for the front $300 5 Lug Rims $100 Total: $3275 3 week build time to obtain parts and install. Comments?Questions? Should I do it? |
Sounds almost right.Seems a little high tho.

thats not bad, used engine?

used engine, about 35,000 miles, handpicked and brought over, apparently the supplpier flies over and picks all his engine to ensure no cut harnessess, and he attempts to start every car before the engine is removed. Also...can anyone tell me the major differences between the US Spec and the J Spe engines? And would the 20b be a more cost effective swap?
|
no a 20b would be WAY more exp...the eng. alone would be more than that conversion.

Well I put the down payment on the engine.....Im trying to see how much the fmic is gonna cost that way I can put the money towards that instead of a new hood TII Hood. And a questiond for the Gurus' do the TII have a tendency to drop Boost once the reach high RPM's? For instance, when you first take off, you spool to approx 10psi, but by the time to reach 6-8000 rpm its dropped off to 6 psi. Why does this happen, and what's the easiest way to avoid this prob.?
Any info will be great... thanks in advance. |
Bring it to my house with 2500 and I'll have it done in 2 weeks and you can even borrow my beater accord to get around until then. Seems like an okay price from a "professional" though.
