Ok, I have the chance to get an FC off of a friend for $500. It's non turbo. There is no interior. It has a short shifter. And it ran when we parked it.
I'm wanting to throw out the rotary and toss in an Sr20det. anyone done this with success. I know there is a black FC with the swap, and he loves it. this is just going to be my daily driver, since my civic to too powerful for daily driving now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png |
he is the only person and he did all the work himself
|
You'll most likely need to swap in the drivetrain out of a Turbo2 to handle the extra torque/power.
|
do you even know who i'm talking about?
ohh, and just for reference...i'm not a n00b by anymeans. this is just my first FC. I've worked on some FD's....so i have a good understanding of the rotary theroy. |
i'll hve the sr20 stuff to go in
the RX i know that did the swap just had to get a DS made, the rear end can handle it i just need to know about mounting and wiring |
wont it be cheaper to just get the whole T2 setup ..... and produce similar power?
|
i'll be making more RELIABLE power with the SR
and I can work on SR's no prob. I was going to contact Rotorsports about it...but, i'd just rather have a good engine that's boosted and will last. |
Your best bet would be to contact the guy that did the swap, I dont know him or his name. You might be able to get in touch with him thru www.dgtrials.com.
I also think that you would need the more robust turbo car driveline in order to have some reliabilty. I have been contimplating a 1.8 liter miata turbo motor swap myself for the past year. Good luck! |
it's not going to be making that much power
i mean, i have a 556 whp civic...that's my toy... this is just going to be a daily driver any maybe around 300whp or so |
and not trying to be a dick or say that rotaries aren't reliable...
i'm just lazy when it comes to a daily driver...and i wouldn't give it the care a rotary needs. |
he knows who you are talking about, not like there are that many
FCs going around with that swap. http://robx-7.nopistons.com/userimag...977d75b1e8.jpg |
that's the stunna!
yeah, well....my friend Chris knows him...and I think I might get chris to help me... |

Sometimes he uses the user name of initialDfc...other times EDGA perhaps...good luck |
Chris Frostburg, I think. He had his name in his RX7club sig way back.
|
300whp would probably blow the NA drivetrain pretty quick...
what happened to those pics of the NA that had a turbo put on then blew the diff to pieces vosko style? |
Doesn't this belong in ENGINE SWAPS?
|
picky picky, not like there is a abundance of topics in 2nd gen, MOVED!
|
Chris is selling his car...for $12,000.

12K huh. I was actually looking at the SR20 swap just for shits and giggles and also because I thought maybe I could find a cheaper engine than the 13B but nope! There are no powerful engines as cheap as a 13B:) Just rebuild it:)
|
sr20's are nice but there are many ways to make the 13B reliable. the engine in my car proves that in many ways!
|
I was just talking to Chris about this. I didn't even know it was him who did it:) He said it was quite a bit of work but he really likes it. He is trying to sell the car because he just got a 350Z for some serious drifting action:) Anyway, about the car, he said the toughest part was the custom oil pan so it would miss the subframe. He also routed the exhaust from the drivers side across the d-shaft to the passenger side.
I bet it is a pretty sweet conversion if you really feel like it:) If someone threw a good SR20 at me, or for that matter any cool turbo motor, I would try to shoehorn it in:) Vosko - Yah, I know they can be reliable:) I was just looking for a cheaper engine but they don't exist:) I kind of like the sandwich design too;) |
just saying. if you ask chris even he is amazed i break everything but engines https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
so......what can i do with my 13b to make some good power reliably?
Ok, let me say this first...the car has been sitting WITHOUT being cranked for over a year. its a silver FC with the gold BBS wheels, i think they came on it..no idea. I do boosted honda...but, i RARELY see anything rotary. So, yeah...not so sure what all can be done. I mean, i guess i could just toss an FD engine in there, right? |
the easiest way would be convert to T2 drivetrain the whole shebang. then run low boost 10PSI or lower and it will be extremely reliable. my friends TII with full exhaust and intake ran 14.3 with a bad driver.... not bad at all for stock everything else https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

$2K for an FD engine, ecu, and harness.. doesn't sound bad to me. Damn, that Chris guy did the swap to a black TII.. that should be illegal. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

I wouldn't do it, but everyone to themselfs
