as topic says, im not sure if i need a new motor/rebuild or not but if i do i am looking into picking up a JDM "long block" as i found one for $990+ shipping on a site and that would turn out a little cheaper than a full rebuild! but i gotta look into it more as im not sure on the reputation of the company, but just wondering if it would be a posibility or not??

you can make it work for sure! you'll need the front cover off of the s4 motor, this also means you can run premix, i think the injectors might have to be swapped out

S4 to S4, why the front cover change? If S5 to S4 or vice versa then you'd have a mismatch between the mechanical and electric OMPs. You would also have to do something with your boost control as well. But that's beside the point.



Yeah, watch your injector impedance. That's easy 'cause the connectors are different.



I think your brake booster vac nipple will be on the wrong side too.



Oh, and there's something different with the JDM fuel rails as well IIRC. They might have the inlet/outlet reversed. Maybe that was NA cars. Hmm, that needs further research.

i said take the s4 front cover off because of the mechanical omp, the s5 has electronic omp, so if you change the front cover it's a hell of a lot less work we've done this on the 3 motors we have swapped

also i just remembered i think you will need to use the s4 tb, because it only has one TPS the s5 has two

thanx guys, i think thats what im gunna end up doing cause the rotor houseing is pretty bad and its either get a usdm short block for 1k or get a motor (which i think is JDM) for $850 lol, im still taking to the guy yet and ill find out its origins hehehe

If you intend on just dropping it into your car and driving off, your wrong.... JDM ending should be taken as a core THAT'S IT!



I know, I spend the $1000+ putting one in my car to have it blow up in 200 miles..... If you can get a rebuilt core for $1000, and you already have the other parts, then do that. The JDM engine wasn't sent to a junk yard because it was running good. It's called Jap junk for a reason. Unless it's coming from a good exporter like Jarco (who has milage/time waranties on all engine sets/front clips)





Also yes the USDM engine harness/ECU will interchange, and you HAVE TO use the USDM harness... The ECU has no difference. The reason being the JDM harness is physically shorter, and also is missing alot of wiring. Like the windshield wipers, heater/AC wiring, and some other stuff. Running the JDM engine is just like removing the emissions off of a USDM engine.





And yes the fuel lines are reverced.... It took me a couple days to figure out why my car wasn't getting fuel https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

well, i havent heard any bad things form the person im getting the motor from yet. actualy he did sell one junk motor and took care of it right a way and the customer was very very pleased with the transaction! so i am very confident in the purchas!
