Yes, it now is turbo'd...

and YES, we do race it... battle scarred and all.

It'll be nice a pretty again before D1GP in Nov...

that thing probly hauls ass huh?

rowtareh 01-29-2007 05:32 PM

my god. there's nothing in that engine bay besides motor and turbo! very good progress.

Soon to have a 2.3 liter, with Jerico transmission and a sequential shifter...

We are currently making GT style fenders for the front and rear of the car as well...

...if it is D1GP, it has to LOOK and RUN like an animal...

I am currently starting up a team from Hawaii, to go to the west coast drift events, and finalize the year at the D1GP drivers search. I have three spots for cars on this sponsorship deal, and the FC is already taking one of those.

Who will be the ones that I choose?

what i would like to see is a 20B in a s2k, if you look under the hood of one thier is plenty of room to work with.

it is a clan swap, i have a lot of respect for it.

the problem i have with pistion swaped into a rx is the rx7 was designed around the rotary, so yea it handles great but still not as good as if you kept the 13B in it.

The weight difference is so miniscule though, why bother thinking about it.

Put a 24 of beer in your bone stock FC hatch and a bag of golf clubs, and that throws off your balance by more than likely the same ratio.

The "blasphemy" of swapping an LS1 into an FD, just for example, SAVES weight, and does'nt throw off the balance at all. I think you save about 75 pounds last time I read. Could be off some. The turbo system on the FD with all the craph is alot of added weight.

Rotary motor is heavy in long block version, don't be fooled. With all the manifolds, TB, oil lines, vac lines it's heavy. Any of them!

I still say it's a clean swap. And your point of the rx-7 being designed around the rotary engine is a silly thing to say. The rotary was around MUCH longer before the SA's came out in 78. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Obviously!

im not talking about the overall weight, im talkng about the weight distrubition, the rx7 is designed to have all the weight low to the ground, and all of it behind the stering.

a pistion engine will have a high center (unless its a flat engine), and will be over the stering wich will give you understeer.

rowtareh 02-03-2007 03:17 PM

Negative. The weight distrubution is not compromised at all. The LS1 actually gives it a BETTER percentage. The RX-7 is not exactly perfect weight for front and rear. I forget what magazine it is, but it's at home and I'm at work right now.

Hell, the damned Chrysler 300's that are out now are 50/50.

kuhnke 02-03-2007 06:19 PM

im not front to back im talking about how the weight is distriburted in the engine bay, its ment to have a low canter of gravity, and all the weight behind stering.

the same reasons a porsh handles so well is the same reason the rx7 does, an engine with a low center of gravity.
