a while back i asked if anyone had done this and got a few repsonses. my dad and i decided that it should work, even if all the information we were getting off the internet came from a mg midget conversion. so far we got the engine in place, and created the engine and transmission mounts. the driveshaft just got finished last night and seems to fit good. next up is all the electric crap and then the plumbing (oil, fuel, exhuast and cooling). since we had already tried to convert to ford v8 power(which got submerged), we had the engine bay already cleared out and ready for a new engine. the engine actually fit in really good behind the front crossmember after we cut it out to let the engine sit lower. looks like there is plenty of room for the exhaust and the hood will close without hitting anything, perfect for this little sleeper! im open to any suggestions, so if you guys have any let me know.

My brother started doing this same thing... But his swap is much much more custom. He's completely tube framing the car, and putting TII front/rear suspension, and subframes under it. They are actually pretty well mounted.

It's an interestin project, but probably one more around our gaurage that won't get finished https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

Why?

macpherson strut up front and semi trailing rear is nowhere near ideal, if you're going to go through the trouble of all that fabrication why not put double A arms on the car with coilovers? The FC subframes are not light pieces either, was this just one of those things where you do it just because you can? Not with any significant rational reasoning?

definitely getting a paint job after the engine work is done. it's probably the worst color brown i've ever seen, and the worst part is that it's the original paint https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png the car was purchased in california, don't they have a law in that says sports cars can't be brown or something like that?

No, more because of convienience. I had a TII parts car, and I let him have the front/rear sub-frames. And they are only like a foot wider than the car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Were as a car with dual A-arm suspension (like say a Toyota supra) Is much over a foot wider.
