well i came here to learn some more info on rotary engines. i am in the process of finding a rotary engine to put in my vw bug. i have my eye on a twin turbo fuel injected model but unsure it is the best choice to get. i have alwasy been obsessed with power and small cars. so i fell in live with rotary engines in college, and vw bugs in highschool in 95 96. any help is apreciated in learning about these little engines and i also am looking to buy in the near future a rotary engine. thanks for the opurtunity to be apart of your website.

hEY MAN, sounds like a cool project to have.TurboII motors will be more then enough to put down some crazy power for your bug.

Kennedy Engineered Products makes a great adapter for the bug to rotary. As NotalesS already stated a second gen turbo motor will make more power than you need for a LOT less money than a twin turbo. wiring up a stock ECU isn't that hard if you get a good schematic. A stand alone like a Haltech makes it quite simple.

thats too cool, i always love it when bug's pop-up on two wheels at launch...I havent seen a rotary powered one yet, so please post up some pix when its done

welcome...... i'm working on a 12A powered one myself... makes less power, but it's carberated and runs a dizzy so it requires very minimal wiring. It's a trade off that i can live with.



The only worry i have about the whole setup is that i don't like the idea of a radiator hanging up behind my head.

the bug will be vw powered while i save for the motor. so basically a 86 to 91 or 93 turbo motor is what i should look for. any good places to look as i am having a hard time in this area finding what i want(engine wise). the radiator isue is beter suited for the front as the air flow is more direct. a place called bug at 5 speed under germanlook.com makes a radiator that sits below the front valance and supposidly cools good for watercooled conversions. still seeing if they are willing to seperate the radiator from the rest of there conversion package. if not i will either cut into the front spare tire wheel area and run the coolant lines to it from the back. i will see if i can get pics of it in its glory now for your veiwing pleasure.

opps.... i mis-read your initial post. I thought you were building a sandrail. A front mount radiator in a bug should be no problem.

a quick question for you all. what do you think i should offer for a rotary engine that has been sitting for a year or so that was slotted for a transplant into a bug, the person has since changed his mind and is now going to sell it. this also includes all the adapters for makign it fit into a bug. i know what to offer for that stuff but unsure what to offer for the motor. i am getting more info on the engine. basically mileage and year it came out of. so right now just suggestions on offers but i will have more info to clarify further.

need more info on the motor, mileage, series number, turbo or N/A, and compression. overall condition and what exactly comes with it will help out also.
