u know there is a whole lot more involved right? drivetrain swap, ecu, wiring harness, dash harness, hood, etc etc.

an apex seal blew in my 90 gxl and i was gonna go turbo but its not worth it.

i priced everything out for parts and it wasnt bad but there is a crapload of work that has to be done just like everyone says.

everybody i talked to who did it said not to.

just buy a T2 with a blown motor or somethin

djdizzy217 10-31-2002 11:50 PM

well, as far as the work goes, I am willing to put the time into it, plus i have a place i can take it to and the guy said he would do the work for free if i could just get my car club to put his companies name on our cars, so yea i can get free work now :bigthumg: As for all the parts, i can get them cheap through the army, another :bigok: but I found a wrecked 3rd gen in a junk yard, the only prob is the front right fender is banged up and the owner didnt want to full with it, i can buy for 500, no rust, engine only has 47k on it, so i might just say screw the 2nd gen and go for the 3rd. But I want to have a collection of all 3 gens one day, I will have it, oh yes, i will. Then maybe spring for a rx8 when the turbo appears that is!

87turbollrex 12-11-2002 12:07 AM

TurboSmoke 12-26-2002 10:16 PM

if you want to do a TII swap i can get you a jspec s5 motor, tranny, ecu straight from japan for 1200.00 then the only things you would have to buy is a driveshaft, TII rear end and a oil cooler. and you will have a TII. the only thing is 1200.00 is not including the shipping.

pengaru 12-28-2002 02:17 AM

oil cooler differs turbo vs na?

racinglatino 12-28-2002 09:14 PM

I am about to work on my swap and i will be posting a whole lot of threads... and i'm going from N/A TO TII... but first whats so different about the oil cooler from n/a's & TII

I don't think there is a difference when it comes to oil coolers. The T2 might be a bit bigger to cool that type of heated oil from the turbo but I can't see it being any different. If your that worried about it just buy a aftermarket cooler and run some SS braided lines to it.

All fcs oil coolers are the same, and the stock unit is the best there is.
