Hi guys,im new here, and also new to the pistonless engine.

After toying with several ideas as to what engine to replace my ageing 8-valve Fiat motor with,i decided on the 13B turbo.Series 5 engines are the only ones we get over here in numbers.

I got a dummy motor from a friend to check the space in the engine bay-and by god,it looks like the old Fiat was designed for this engine. Some minor mounting mods and it will simply slide in.

Im in Johannesburg South Africa. We have a couple of rotary tuners here, some of them running high 8 quarters. But i need to learn about this engine myself,so i dont look like a prick. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Im considering a bridge port motor.I do a lot of track work,so i want to stick to the std turbo for now.I need to know if it will still produce any boost at 7000rpm.I know it will get me out the corners quick enough, but will it carry??

Also-i will go for the Microtech ltx 11 i think it was called.

So a std turboed bridgeport motor running at 13psi boost will give me what sort of RWHP???This is with the std injectors,or at these boost levels will i need to go for bigger injectors????

Also, the intercooler lines up with my std bonnet scoop, how effective r these coolers.

Guys,im not interested in 100000000hp,but a useable 220hp or so at the wheels will give me an extraordinarily fast track car.Ohh btw-i want to go to 3mm seals as well.Just for reliability's sake.

What you guys think????

Nice, I presume it's not that damp down there for Fiats of that vintage to still exist https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png, keep us updated.

I'm not sure you want to bridgeport a turbo motor. A street port will work well with the turbo. Ive got a street port, with a microtech making 292WHP at 12psi on pump gas. Its in a Miata.

Listen,im green with these things. We have quite a reputable tuner here.I mentioned the bridge to him,and he said he can do it.I dont know the pro and cons of this set-up.

Please tell me.

If 220rwhp is your goal hell you can do that with stock ports. I would go through and freshen up the motor and maybe do a decent streetport on the motor. Don't waste your time with 3mm apex seals if the 2mm slots are within specs. It's a waste of time and money and 2mm seal better and hold better at upper rpm's because they are double sprung unlike 3mm seals that have a single spring. It's all in the tuning there have been many people who have made in excess of 500rwhp with stock 2mm seals with no reliability issues. And I would go with larger injectors if you are going in the 13psi range.

I agree, Street port, factory apex seals are more durable, and 720 secondary injectors.

Hi guys.

Listen, ive bought a motor.Brand new.Was built for short track application, but the guy decided to rather refresh his current engine, which has done 3 full seasons. So durable it should be.It is a 13b gen 5 turbo, streetported, dowelled, balanced and with 3mm seals. Also a slightly modded std turbo.Apparently it runs a bigger compressor wheel and a machined housing.

It was dynoed at something stupid like 450 flywheel ponies. This car weighs in at 820kgs with the old Fiat motor in it,and ive rid it of another 53kgs since then.I reckon 810kgs with the rotor...920 with me in it.That is a positively stupid power/ weight ratio. So if i go quiet......im dead.Send flowers.

Ok i started my conversion on the week-end after i got the gearbox.I slapped the dummy motor on there, cut the tunnel open, and slid the assembly in.

I took some shitty pictures with my phone.

This is the rhs engine mount.I will finish them off and powdercoat them.

I did the lhs tonight.I will do the gearbox mountings tomorrow.

Just look at that,perfect

So,am i going in the right direction........?

isnt that fiat a tad small?

You're at the fun part now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png - everything you do seems like huge progress. Soon you'll have all those annoying little jobs and the electrics, just don't let them put you off https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png - and a rotary engine in a light car like that is always heading in the right direction.
