There is a miata here for purchase, a 5 speed, the body is in very good condition adn i think its like a 94 or osmethign or a 91 bt who cares.
Anyway i want to do a tt REW motor swap on it. can the miata tranny be used cause the tt motor came with a automatic tranny. any suggestions, or poinions on doin the swap. coments are welcome |
I believe the answer is yes. Atleast it will bolt up. I'm unsure if the flywheel/clutch will work.
I think the flywheel u need is off a 1989 or newer normally aspirated rx7. then the miata pressure plate will work? I'm not sure... perhaps someone else can chime in |
when i mean bolt up, i mean the tranny's bellhousing bolts up to the engine.

miata tranny wont like the power.

No it will not bolt up, if you swap the front casing from a N/A Rotary transmission, then it will bolt up. But like it said before, it will not like the power.
|
the front casing (bell housing) on the n/a tranny is like 75% of the tranny case

You are correct sir. Only reason I can see someone wanting to do something like this, is they absolutely have to keep the Power Plant Frame that connects the transmission and rear diff. Or on the other hand just swap the Miata transmission rear housing to the stock N/A RX-7 one. I have tossed the idea around several times about doing it, but if you ever drive a 250-280 RWHP Miata its a blast (pretty much perfect), it can be done easy on the stock drive line and motor by slapping a turbo on the side of it. I think anymore power would just be silly and pointless. |
