i tryed posting this before but got blasted. maybe people arnt drinking there hater-ade today. so i'll try again.

im in iraq right now and plan on building a renesis powered FC. theres a few things io need to know first. and maybe a fellow rotor head has done this or put some serious though into it.

what i need to know is, i know the FD and TII tranny bolt up using a TII clutch set up, but will they be compatible. (hydraulic, cable, push or pull style) or is the renesis tranny needed for the swap?

oil pan location: will the lower tower bar needed to be fabbed or maybe the FC oil pan will bolt up. any clearencing issues here?

anyone know of an after market intake manifold? in case i can just get the core, the rinky dinky plastic pieces are pretty exspensive. and may have some hood clearence problems.

this might be the hardest part. wiring. would splicing the FC harness into the renesis harness be at all possible or worth it? or running the renesis harness be a lot less of a headache? right now im leaning towards a microtech LT10 to run it. but with such few mods (intake , headers, exhaust, and maybe custom intake manifold) maybe a full stand alone is an over kill.

if anyone has any ideas. im open. thanks in advance...

**and if your gonna say, just stay 13b turbo. more power less money. build your own car. let me build mine**

I believe there was some group that made a renesis first gen. You will have to implement some throttle setup because the renesis is fly by wire. As far as transmission fitment the TII transmissions use a push type clutch slave where the FD transmissions use a pull type. I wish I could remember who it was that made the renesis first gen because they would be able to help out more.

Everyone will tell you to just go the 13b turbo route because of power, time, cost, parts, work, etc.

It will be unique but you could probably do a single turbo 3 rotor swap for less.

Originality is a plus and it is respectable... If you got the time and money!

Good luck with whatever you plan on doing, and get back safely to the states!

ummmmm....i dont get the flamed thing??????

and about what rmriggin said....whats the difference between fly by wire and what ever throttle cables. and what do you know about stepper motors for the renesis??? thanks for the info by the way

rmriggin 08-12-2006 04:09 PM

there is no throttle cable in fly by wire. I believe it is a stepper motor that open throttle based on position of the pedal. I guess you could have a custom manifold made and do stand alone, or just fashion a throttle cable.

Like another poster said, you can probably do a 3rotor single turbo swap for less! so if you would rather be happy with paying $10000 for 280 or so whp rather than $10000 for the capability for over 600 than you are

There's a very good reason people recommend not worrying about swapping in the RENESIS. It's a good motor, sure, but motor swaps are typically done for power gains. You'll see some, but be sorely disappointed when/if you want more power than what you get stock. I'd definitely wait until more people crack the engine and gain a lot more power out of them before I'd consider swapping it into anything.

RotaryVillain 08-16-2006 04:17 PM

If the RENESIS engine is so great why is it that every "RX-8" drift or drag or roadrace cars have 13b-rew engines in them with single turbo! or some with 20bs

examples: Speedsource roadracing professional RX-8 20b engine

Mazdatrix sponsored Drifting RX-8 Rod Millen Driving 13brew w/ single turbo

Abel Ibarra Drag racing "rx-8" with 20b

seriously there's not a single "RX-8" making power with an Renesis.

Find one and post it. I have yet to find a Renesis making big power.

rotaryturtle 09-01-2006 03:23 AM

give me a renesis and ill make it have power, but dont get pissed when it explodes.

BIG single turbo and NOS.

whiiirr.....psshht.....whiiirr.....BOOM!! lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

QuackDamnYou 09-01-2006 07:25 PM

If he wants to swap a RENESIS into his FC, let him. It's up to him and if you're only going to waste his time and space on his thread by telling him it's a stupid idea, when he didn't even ask for your more than unwelcome opinion to begin with about whether or not he should do it, then don't post.

Post only if you have something CONSTRUCTIVE to say about WHAT HE ASKED. End of story.
