If you use an 87-88 engine, it's pretty easy. If you use an 89-91, you have to change some stuff. Check out the second gen section for details.

yah, theres a thread on this right now, super easy

how can you tell what year the engine was made?
|
the 86-88 engines have a 2 bolt aluminum thermostat cover, a mechanical metering pump, a single tps, the twin scroll turbo, aluminum fuel rails.
the 89-91 engines have a 3 bolt plastic t stat cover, an electric metering pump, dual tps's, stamped fuel rails, and the knock sensor is in the rear rotor housing above the spark plugs mike |
