I am new to the world of rotary engine and its components. But I was wondering if it's possible for me to succesfuly work on an RX-7 with only having skills with piston powered engines. What I am basically saying is, is it hard to work on rotary engines? Are there special tools that are needed to work on the engine? Lets I wanted to do some porting or add new Apex seals, is it too complicated, for somebody who is some what sabey on piston engines to work on rotary engines?
I say this because I some have some experience with four cylinder engines. I for example know how to bore cylinder walls, install oil and compression rings. grind valve seats and replace springs. I also know that there are special tools needed to remove valves and special things that are needed to adjust certain things. I know most of the piston powered components, but I know very little on rotary engines. What I want to know is what speacial tools and knowledge is needed to work on rotary engines? Thanks. '=' |
