instead of the usual v8 rotary-piston swap what about this viper engine? just an idea and if anyone has done it.

VIPER ENGINES ARE GOOD FOR 450 HP WITH CATS AND 500 + HP WITHOUT CATS |
It's hard enough stuffing a V8 into an RX7, let alone a V10.
It's not that it can't be done, just expect even more headaches from a V8 swap, which has enough headaches on it's own to begin with. |
Theres a reason the viper has 8 miles of hood, and its not to make a visual statement
|
why would u want an engine with the crank of minivan and a neon welded together?
You're kidding right I hope you're making a pun at an old thread that used to be here.. if so that's funny! |
i was just wondering if it could be done. not if it will the 4 rotors cant be much more LENGHT wise but width its alot more....
|
Ill get you a length measurement on the viper v10. Im estimating that the forwardmost part of the engine will be around there the hood latch is unless you cut the firewall.
|
personally i wouild stay japanese and get a 2jz or a sr
|
here's an idea....keep it rotor.
but that would be cool if you could stick one of the 8.3L V10's in there. i don't think it would fit AT ALL, but would be cool. |
read some where that the viper motor in its own chassis is so long that the gas ,barake and clutch are slightly off kilter .They make you sit a liitle crooked ..your legs go to the left..MY $.02...an RX7 without a rotary in it is not an RX7 anymore..but hay, that's just me..and we are all men doin manly things!!!Tim Allen/Frankenstein Style!...the viper motor that was in one of the Dodge trucks (drove it)..piece of crap!wonder though with less weight..woohoo!
|
i agree with the ls7... man thats gonna be a beast of corvette... ****. i was thinking of stuffing a ford modular 4.6 liter double overhead cam cobra motor under the hood of mine... jsut for something different... but when i heard of the ls7 coming out... i think ill wait for it

you are smoking crack my man. i like rotaries, but that is an impressive truck. Actually, the pedals in the viper are off to the left side because the engine is so long. And the SRT10 truck is the slowest 500 hp thing you will ever see. No weight on the rear wheels while having enough torque to make a semi blush is a recipe for wheelspin. Not to mention the curb weight is 5500 lbs. Half of the Mercedes AMG line will run circles around that truck. |
**** that. It's a pickup - it has 90% of the weight on the front wheels, there's no way one of those is "fast" on any form of circuit by any means.

It's funny you talk all this **** like you know, but have you actually done this swap before?
No so shut the **** up. I know of lots of fast vipers so who is to say that it wont be fast in an rx7? The best of both worlds, the rx7 styling and the v10. IMO its what mazda shoudl have done from the factory. |

I drove a SRT-10 pickup, I was VERY unimpressed, it was also a 4 door which I would imagine is the heaviest one out there, it also sounds like **** even with a aftermarket exaust
