I have a 1987 Turbo II minus one over the hill engine that I may or may-not rebuild one day.

What I plan to do now is swap this motor for a newer hopefully healthier 91 Turbo II engine.

I was lucky/patient enough to find one with the computer, wireharness, airflow sensor and just about everything I can think of, that I might need to do this swap.

Two things though:

1- The motor came from a automatic car with a automatic trans. Which is fine by me as I can use my old Turbo II trannie, but I worry about what flywheel/counterweight/clutch setup I can use.

2- I realize I'll have to change the computer and engine wireharness, but I don't want to have to change the body harness to the rest of the car.

My questions are this:

1- Can I use the flywheel/clutch assembly from the 87 or is the balancing going to be off if I do that?

If not; what years/models will work with the 91 engine?

2- There's three plugs to the computer two for the engine, one for the rest of the car. Does anyone know if that last plug is the same alowing me too use the 91 computer, or am I going to have to rewire the whole car to run the 91 computer?

1. no, You must get a s5 turbo flywheel or an aftermarket light weight flywheel with the right counterweight for an s5 engine. After that you can put in a the tii clutch and cover.

s5= 89-91

2. The plug in the s5 cars are different. I think you'll have to rewire or get the other side of the harness and other componets.

It is easier to just run the s4 ecu and either run premix or swap out the front cover to s4 to use the mechanical omp.

you have easy problems https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

1. you need an 89-91 t2 flywheel or any t2 aftermarket one

2. just use all the 87 electronics and sensors

Your both right about the flywheel. I'm probably going with the lightweight/aftermarket unit for that.

My main concern right now is the wiring. I working on that now. I have the 91 computer and wiring harness that came with the motor and I like to get it working, so I can take advantage of the added hp/benifit of the new sensors, air flow meter etc..

You won't gain much at all for the hassel of using S5 wiring. If your after power just use the S4 wiring till your ready to swap in a full stand alone system. The biggest power gains between S4 and S5 T2's is the Better turbo and manifold.Wiring isn't worth the time unless you go haltech. :bigthumg:
