I got the Distributor so I can Carb my Turbo II engine. So do I need to keep the Vacuum advance or can I remove them from the Dizzy?
oh Yeah, I am keeping it turbocharged....
gee.. Not all at once.. :squint:
You can remove it but I doubt it will idle properly if it will idle on its own.Theres only two vaccum lines.I have mine hooked up because the carb has the place to run the too.How much left do you figure you have before its running? Is it all stock other than the carb swap?

The engine is from a Turbo 2, it is internally stock, and I will be running the stock turbo.. I won't be running emissions junk either.. I thought the timing didn't need to be advanced since it is for a turbo engine..
So if I do have to hook them up, what do I hook them up to? |
Depends on the carb.Mine has two nipple on top that the vacccum lines run to.Some carbs you just cap off the lines tho.Do you have the Turbo hat already?I read somewhere you were hoping to have it running by the end of the month?Do you think it is still possible?
It is looking Bad... I am short on Money cause I have to pay a traffic ticket, so I will probably delay getting my Weber for another month.. I don't have the hat yet either.. I will get it when I get the Carb..
Cool.Sounds like a fun project.Good Luck.Hope you get the body looking as good as the driveline.
Probably need a check valve in the vac line so that when the motor is making boost the vacuum advance isn't working in opposite.
if it was me you wanna keep the vacuum advance, because it advances under vacuum under boost it will go back to the base timing. thats the other thing you need to watchout for. the dizzy also has centrifical advance so you need to set the timing at like 4000rpms to something safe 16-18btdc@10psi and 12-15btdc@15psi.

Cool Thanx, for that info..
yup, thats unless you happen across a 12a turbo dizzy then its got boost retard so you can set the timing stock and it will be fine
mike |
Sure, I bet I can get one of those super fast out here on The opposite side of the world. I will ask around maybe I can get one later on..
haha, or maybe you can buy the vacuum advance retard things? they should be n236-18-350 and n236-18-340? but i dunno thats just a guess
mike |
I will have to hunt for that. Does anyone make an aftermarket Distributor for Rotaries?
nope, that would be kinda neat though
mike |
Damn, that sux.. I was at the Junkyard yesterday getting some bolts and other lil stuff for the engine, I remebered how you said I might be able to put a first gen oil pan on the truck if I put it backwards, It seems like it would work so I will try that, but I need a new front cover so I can mount the engine from there instead of the T2 mounts cause they make the engine sit too high at a wierd angle.. Can any first gen front cover fit or do I have to get a specific model..
nope any first gen front cover will bolt on. if you get the 83 and later ones have a place for the turbo oil drain

WHat about the oil pan? I usually only find first gens with 12a's out here in the junk yards.. Do I have to get one from the 13b or will the 12a pan work?
you need a 13b pan, they are cheap new if you can find one.
on the later front covers theres a hole thats not drilled out, perfect place for the drain mike |
Cool, thanx..
