ok i must ask why?? and what generation?? ok now for the facts yes its been done, please dotn quote me but its grannys speed shop or something like that sells swap kits for sbc's and the LT/S1 motors. just do a godle search for grannys speed shop and im sure you will find it. and hinnison supercars does them for LS1 motors as well.... and of course you can always do a motor plate or custom welding if your good with that sort of stuff.. now im leanin towards a FD when i say this.

As for how they run im not sure but im sure there quick, but the weight of a normal 350 chevy is going to be killer on your handling.. the LS1 bein all aluminum is about the same weight as out 13B's and people get good results with them. 2muchpwr i believe on this forum has one in the 10's with a ls1 t56 swap.. unsure of the mods tho... its a 3rd gen also now as for a 1st gen there is one here in my hometown with a 383 stroker on nitrous and a 350 tranny running low 10's but hes really really built up.. i wouldnt do a v8 swap in mine unless its a 1st gen only, i really like my rotary motor in my FD.

Hope I helped you out and again I am going to ask whats wrong with your rotary?? and if you have a 2nd gen why not swap in a 13brew out of a 3rd gen in it?? and i happen to have one for sale with turbos and all... 99 spec turbos to boot!!

yea you helped a lot. right now im looking into many different options. i learned that a v8 would push it up to about 350rwhp and not have much affect on the handling. with a 13b i saw it was more like 200? if thats the case then the extra 150hp would be worth it. and not to piss off everyone with a rotary, my 2nd gen has about 190k on the motor and a v8 would be a cheaper way to go as well... without all the options of course. i am kind of on a budget so i would be throwing in the v8 for more of a temp thing. then while i dont need a car to drive ill be building up the stock 13b and adding turbos and all the bells and whistles. at least that is the plan. how much are you selling yours for?

now im kind of a newbie when it comes to the rotary, not even sure what model i really have. the fabrication wouldnt be much of a problem, if i kinda new what u were talking about. thanks again

Many don't like the Idea of doing a v-8 swap into an RX just because will the rotary engine is the heart of the car.. I have never looked into doing one or bothered to look for a shop that sells the kit to do it. I do know that the all alum. LSX engine will add 60 lbs to the front end of an fc. This will effect handling and many other aspects of the car. Stock with the rotary engine the FC has a 51/49% weight dist. a v-8 will change that drastically pushing more into corners than turning into them.

Other options are good but here is just a suggestion..order new rebuilt motor while waiting for that change the clutch and add a light flywheel change seals in tranny and shifter bushing use some kind of new ecu (wolf 3-d, apex power fc etc..). Remove all the vaccum lines and other unnessary crap and have a good running car with a rotary.

hey, if your looking for 300+hp, then the 13brew out of a 3rd gen is your ticket, yah there around 220whp stock but thats an easy fix, just up the boost 12-13psi, 3" exhaust and your pretty much already there if not your darn close, and you can go way more than that if you wanted. 350whp is not out of the option if you go 13brew with stock turbos.. if you want to send me a PM i can try and explain a lil more in detail if you wish..

put a straight six in it rolling on 20's... then push it off a cliff

the 13brew is the twin turbo or the single? like i said im a newb. to all this. i honestly have no idea what im planning on doing, but all i know is that its going to happen around feb. with a tax return from my good uncle sam

REWs are the twin turbo engines. Like it's been stated earlier, you'd have an easier time swapping one in, getting the power you want, and not throwing off your handling.

agree'd and you could always get more power if you wanted by bolt on parts... very easy hp its all in tuning...

You're only going to get biased responses here.

Visit torquecentral.com for some good info, and see the classifieds over there, you may get a whole swap with everything you need for a good price. Many poeple have done these kinds of swaps with great success.

Also visit http://grannysspeedshop.com/, and read all the articles and information they have, there is a ton of information. The discuss handling characteristics, and ways that people have balanced their cars, if that's an issue you're concerned with.

I managed to give a guy my n/a 13b (just the bare block) and $350, and he gave me a rebuilt Ford 302, AOD, and the basic Granny's kit to bolt it into my covertible. I don't care about handling, this is my wife's convertible that I bought for her just to be a fun weekend car. A whole bunch cheaper than rebuilding my n/a 13b, or upgrading to a TII drivetrain.
