I want to put a 20b or 13b(3rd gen) in a 91 TT or NA. But I would like to know what parts in the 91 will work with the 20b engine and the 13b. If any one has done this if they would let me know the aproximate price for the entire project.

Here is a link I found once upon a time regarding the differences between the 13BT engine found in 2nd gen's vs the 13B-REW found in 3rd gens. Main thing I read was the motor mounts for 13BT's and 13B-REW's are difference, so you'd have to do a load of custom work there... for all that work, I would probably just go with the 20B...

13BT vs 13B-REW

A 20B swap will cost at least $10-15K if you do it yourself. If you swap it into an NA then you'll need the TII transmission, rear, etc. to handle the power. You'll also need a computer to run the motor, custom motor mounts, a good radiator, custom oil cooler lines, custom exhaust, etc. There's alot to the conversion. Your questions were way too general.

Fiero, check out one of the other threads about about the 20b convertion. It has a few websites that are very informative.

20B will be the ultimate swap. you'lll get more low end torque and more power but it is the most expensive project like 13Bace. I wish I had the money to do that myself.

turborotor is right 20B is ultimate.... i'll have to deal with 13B for now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png if i run into 30k a 20B will be mine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Well it looks like a engine swap for a 91 into a 13-rew engine looks like it would be a major project. From the sounds of it the cradle and quite possibly the frame would need some reconstruction. As far as upgrading to a 20b, yeah that will cost a lot of money. So the moral of the story is if you have 20-30k to drop go for the 20b. If you have 10-15k go for a 13-rew.

vosko 01-12-2002 10:35 AM

you could also try and and a get 13BRE from a cosmo. i think those are supposed to drop in easier into a FC....

Yes. K2RD, http://www.k2rd.com , sells mounts for a Cosmo 13B that will let it bolt right in. The same mounts will also work with a 20B.

Look at eric's website. he got a cosmo 13brew engine in his FC.

He also has very good info like on haltech installations.

Lucky guy is in china I think. His haltech tips are very imformative. I used the hitman's and erics tips to install my haltech. Everything worked the first time.

I think he's in Japan with his gf.

Turbo III 01-16-2002 07:18 PM

Actually he's on an island 200 miles east of Okinawa that is roughly 5x6 miles and is mainly a fishing village. His wife (they tied the noose last July/August) ... is a Japenese translater working for a school in an exchange program. He'll be back this august so you can still email him but I don't know what's up with his links.

He's in the Northstar rotary club and we've been working on his and mine cosmo swaps together, although he got his motor a few months before me as mine was still being ported. He's running stock ports and the twins in parallel.

There's really no difference between the cosmo 13B-REW and the 3rd gen REW only that the intake runners are bigger and the exhaust ports are larger as well. For a FC you will have to make custom motor mounts. Eric made his own but I spent the big bucks and got the K2RD ones. Mine look nice but his work fine as well. As far as the Haltech maps, he got all his from the Hitman whom he's very grateful too I've heard https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
