some of you my have read about my problems with my 12A in the first gen specific area. i was gonna do an engine swap anyway later on but since i need a new engine (now) i might as well do it (now) just for shits and giggles and i was gonna do it anyway...that being said...does any one know anything about the company jspec auto sports? they have a the perfect engine, transmition and A COMPLETE wiring harness...UNCUT...BUT the engine is sold as is NO warranty blagh blagh...the man who can do the job suggested that i say away from sites that have no warranty and sell there engines AS IS. i was thinking about Mazda Trix (cause they've been really helpful in the past) or Rotory Works. both are good but so damn expensive...i know that its an expensive install but **** can i save a little bit of money...some where...what are you guy's thoughts????

I would go with a 13b-RE instead. You can acheive more power out of the stock ports. You can talk to rob x-7. He has engines for sale for really great prices, but not sure about warranties. And your best bet is to go with an aftermarket ECU like Haltech, because stock ECU's just plain suck.

Good luck, and post pictures when the project gets rolling.

I ordered my motor from Rotary Works. Once I get it running just fine I can comment more on the condition of the motor.

Here is the thread I've been updating with my progress, you might find some useful information in it: Cosmo Swap.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to post in there or PM me.

virtually no shops are giving any warranties on 12 year old engines anymore, getting a full harness with ecu is getting very rare as well, its just not the normall way they scrap cars in japan

I offer a 1 week and start up gurantee and I can tell you that of all the engines sold and the people actually installed- they are still running and running strong

those that are bad we now try to spot before hand and sell them as is at a deep discount to avoid any problems.

As far as a j-spec being a "junkyard" engine that is true and false in a way, japan has different restrictions as far as vehicle inspections go, including MANDATORY replacement of parts when a vehicle gets a certain age, therefore it sometimes becomes more economical to scrap the car.
