I want to put an oil baffle on the 13b re Cosmo. Does any make one or do i have to make my own?

I notice that the stock 13b cosmo oil pan has a small sorta oil baffle by the rear oil regulator.



See pic.



Hmm is it worth making a baffle and making it work with this thing. What do you guys think?

What is your intended use of the car?

Will see track time a least once a month depending on money. Track and Auto-X with the occasional commute to work unless is hot, took out the A/C.

Well here is a home version starting up. Not yet finished. My drill ran out of power. Will continue tomorrow.

Not really familiar with rotaries, but make sure that the oil is able to get back to the pickup easily enough. When I was baffling my piston engine, I oversized the hole for the pickup - the baffle is only really used a few inches from the sump's edges anyway so make sure you don't shoot yourself in the foot.



This may all be pointless if the rectangle in your pic is the only return feed, but I thought I'd mention it anyways.

The rectangle will be fixed to circle soon.



Look at picture #4. The pickup tube is the long thing. The big hole is there to slide thru it and clear the flange on the engine. The end of the pickup tube sit under the baffle, emerged in the oil in the deep part of the oil pan.



The rotaries have 2 regulators, front and rear. The front will just drop directly into the oil pan thru the square hole. The rear regulator is the basically the main puppy which has the most flow pumping out. This is the one with the



I will add another hole for the dip stick and maybe another one for good luck. I"m going to look at some different designs and copy that pattern.



The question is, I guess I will cut 2 small line for that thing in the rear, see oil pan pic 2. It should be ok if I do that.
