what are the pros and cons of standalones vs. piggybacks? ive had some people tell me i need a standalone, and some people tell me to use the stock ecu with a piggyback. im building a 4 port n/a engine to go in a 91 n/a rx7. basically, i just need to be able to tune the engine, and run bigger fuel injectors and nitrous with a streetport. i never plan on having a turbo on this car. i have been looking at the greddy emanage. any feedback on this? will it do what i need it to? thanks.

also, i need something that is easy to install, without much wiring. i hate wiring. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

ok, i decided i will need a standalone, so i just need to know what is good. is there a plug and play for 2nd generation rx7's? i'd like the apexi power fc if it will easily work with my car, since i can get the programmer and not need a laptop.

ok, but how difficult will it be to install? the plug and play is only for fd's, and i have a fc.

i know its not a stand alone but check out the features of the greddy emanage ultimate (its the bomb!)

yeah, i was about to get that, but realised i needed a standalone.

I can understand why you want to use a plug & play but if you going to use a standalone you might as well use new/better sensors that will come with it and new wire harness that comes with it. 15 years you never know what condition the wires and connecters are in.. Me personally would use new stuff in a swap that requires a standalone.

the only thing im not replacing (at least not yet) is the wiring harness, and a standalone will be required with the parts im getting and the engine im building.

theres not much the ultimate cant do that a standalone cant and it can be configured to read any type of sensors you want it too so buy the ultimate and use the extra money you have left over to buy any sensors your heart desires
