i'm trying to decide whether or not i should buy a pfc. my only mods right now are cat-back, downpipe, intake, pulleys, plus my 2000-spec turbos. i would like to be able to turn up the boost a little and i also will eventually replace the main cat with a high flow cat or a midpipe. my question is how important would it be to upgrade my ecu in order to do all of these things?

well if you put a midpipe in you need something. the pfc is great it will make the car run better now, and has the mapping to accomidate everything up to the midpipe, and with a little tuning it will handle the midpipe

if i bought one and installed a midpipe and then upped the boost to maybe like 13 psi, would i gain substantial power? i'm just trying to decide whether it's worth the money 'cause money is kind of tight for me right now.

Do you still have the pre cat? Why not get rid of the pre cat before going to a mid pipe.

Yes, soon you will need an upgraded ECU or you will lean it out and pop your motor.

I am adding a downpipe to mine and I know I will be needing an ECU pronto.

Sorry, I went back and read your original question and I see you have a downpipe.

You're gonna need an ECU upgrade.
